Flat iron & travelling to Italy
We just received our travel documents & it specifically says not to bring your flat iron or curling iron. It says even with a converter, it's likely to fry.
So those of you who have travelled, did ou bring it with you & did it work.

Re: Flat iron & travelling to Italy
I've never brought one, but if you used a converter, it probably would fry depending on the voltage of your iron.
Take a look at the tag. Does it say AC 100 240 V 50 60 Hz somewhere? If it does, then you can use an ADAPTER with it no problem. You won't need to use a CONVERTER because there would be nothing to convert.
If it just says 120 V, then you could try your luck with a converter, but I wouldn't bother. You might end up ruining your iron. I'm overseas at the moment, and I know a few people who ruined their Kitchenaid mixers with a converter because the voltage is only 120. It ruined the motor. Of course, you aren't going to bring a mixer with you on vacation, but you get the idea ;).
If you plan to bring any other things that need to be charged, check for the voltage. Usually laptops and phones are fine, but I'd double check with anything else.

Re: Flat iron & travelling to Italy
I have a flat iron that has a range of voltage so I can use it in europe ONLY if I have the voltage converter - I forgot the converter on my recent trip so it wouldn't work - I bought a cheap one there and while it wasn't great it was better than a head of frizz.
Have a great trip!
