Woodpecker pecking at my house
Turns out it was a woodpecker pecking at my wall!

i have no idea. Except i am jelous that you have bats! We have a bat box to try and attract them but, with the white nose fungus they are all dying off. (can't even see them upstate anymore). Are you sure it's a bat and not a bird?

Woodpecker pecking at my house
Thanksfor your post. Turns out we think it was a woodpecker pecking at our wood siding. We went out and see a few holes, with obvious beak marks in the middles. So it seems the tapping I heard was not inside the wall but outside the wall. We have seen bats around our home which was why I was pretty sure it was a bat but I think the mystery is solved for now.

LOL, I was just thinking the same thing...that "I'm jealous because we have no bats!" 
I miss seeing them.

If you have a woodpecker, it is most likely trying to get at bugs under the siding. We had this with a woodpecker trying to get to bees that were building nests under the siding. You can have them spray so that the woodpecker will go away.

We thought of this when we realized it was probably a woodpecker. I have heard and seen a woodpecker pecking at my chimney cap. We don't see any kind of insect hive where the woodpecker pecked a hole. We will be checking all these things out, thank you for your post.
