What type of seat for Grandparents car?
How would you handle the car seat situation w/Grandparents? DH & I will have 2 bases for our two cars (1 infant car seat). So who ever has the baby will have a base in the car.
My Father is retired; and will be our backup in case one of us is stuck at work or for whatever reason can’t get to the day care in time. Should I get a 3rd base; or just get a convertible seat for my Dad’s car that he’ll be able to use w/the baby into toddler years? Only thing is that he’ll have to take the baby and the car seat that we left at the center back home with him so that we have the car seat for the next day. Does this system seem practical?
We definietly need a base or seat of some sort that stays w/my Dad since he'll be picking up LO short notice some times and we won't be able to plan to leave the base for him.
What is everyone else doing?

My MIL bought a seat that is for babies from 5lbs through 80lbs or something like that. I have not seen or know the brand, but her sister that watches her grandkids has the same one. I would suggest getting that unless you plan on leaving the infant carrier at day care.

I would just get a base, but to be honest as a seasoned mom we've always had 1 car seat and that was it. DH and I each have a car and my dad who is also retired would watch the dc while we were at work, and whichever one of us would drop baby off would just leave the entire carseat.

I'd just get them a convertible car seat for use in emergencies or rare situations. Or just belt the infant seat into their car (it's easy enough to do).

Re: What type of seat for Grandparents car?
i drop DS off at daycare, DH picks him up and occassionally grandma picks him up. we each have a base in our cars and we leave the carseat at daycare. this was the easiest solution for us.

ITA. You'll get more use out of a convertible seat than an infant seat, and it's perfectly safe. I know we can use our convertible (Britax Marathon) from 5-40 lbs rear facing.
