recommend rental agents for Queens please!

Hi! My cousin is a college student and looking for a relatively inexpensive apt in Queens (Flushing, Woodside, Forest Hills, or Astoria). Does anyone know a good rental agent that they would recommend?

Many thanks in advance!

Re: recommend rental agents for Queens please!

I wouldn't use an agent - and I am one

why pay the broker fee when money is already tight

I would check craigs list- I normally find my rentals that way -

My cousin is trying craigslist, but is worried that he might need an agent b/c he doesn't have any credit history and his parents are not from this country... He wanted a back up!

I agree - we found all our apts without a broker, but I've never been in his situation.

Thanks though!

I can tell you from experince- no agent in queens is working with someone with no credit history and no co-signer- no building will take them

maybe the school can help?

I've only ever rented in Suffolk, but always off of CL. Never had a landlord run a credit check or even ask for references.

The one time I worked with a broker he made us jump though hoops with credit checks, wanted an extra two months of security and was a general nightmare to work with and my credit wasn't even that bad.

Thanks to all of you for your help. I couldn't figure out how a broker would help either - but I thought maybe it was me....
