mini bathroom makeover - i got a totally 80s bathroom- need help

yuck

i need a make-over BAD!

Do you think if i did a new sink / vanity and toilet, it would be enough? i also have a laquer cabinet in the right corner. any idea if there is a paint that will cover it?

i am thinking white is my only option. what do you think??

Bathfitters (I think that's the name) can cover your existing tub to match whatever you put in (I'm guessing you don't want grey again?) Changing out the sink/vanity and toilet is easy enough as long as the tile on the floor goes all the way under the vanity. If not, just make sure your new vanity covers the untiled area. I would also change out the light and mirror if you can. I'm not sure about painting over laquer though - someone in a paint store may be able to help you with that.

Easy to do bc i did it! I reglazed a blue tub to white..2 1/2 years later n its still good! I then got rid of the vanity, mirror, n added a new light fixture. I also bought a new toilet. I kept the tile for now n bought accesories...it looks 10 times better. It probably cost around 1200.

I'm doing a mini makeover in my guest bath now. I'm replacing the sink & cabinet with a pedestal sink and adding wainscot. I'm also getting rid of the medicine cabinet and will hang a mirror. With new paint & window treatment it will cost around $800 for the materials. I'm not sure how you could paint the lacquer Could you remove the lacquer cabinet/counter? You could replace the under sink cabinet and maybe add a small linen tower in place of where the counter is?

Oh i would totally get rid of that long shelft (even though i like it's function). to the right of the toilet bowl there is a tall (floor to ceiling) cabinet... it's laquer. GRRR, it's so functional though!! if i got rid of the medicine cabinet i would hang a really long mirror, i would need the lacquer cabinet for my stuff in the medicine cabinet...

My entire bathroom is tiled btw... some tiles have a flower on it...

How much do you want to spend? the tile and tub do no look like they are in bad shape. I think a new sink/vanity and maybe lighting and paint would go a long way.

Bathfitters for just the tub will run you almost $1K and close to $4K for an entire tub enclosure, you would be better off replacing the tub and tile in that case... its not cheap. I did it in my co-op years ago and after i ordered the tub we ended up having to gut the bathroom and it really was a waste of money.

From the pic, it looks like the tub and tile are salvageable so I would either get a new vanity, toilet, mirror, lighting and accessories OR just wait until you can afford to totally remodel.

You can paint Laquer

How to paint Laquer

That may help with the corner cabinet you want to keep.
