Anyone use it for hotel reservations? Were you happy with the hotel since you dont know which one it is till you book it?

i've used it a bunch of times. never had an issue. but i usually go for the higher star hotels (4 or 4.5 stars)

Yes I have used it and can usually figure out the hotel ahead of time.
Try using this website to help you:
http://www.betterbidding.com/
it has forums for cities all over the world where people post what they booked and got, and what the amenities were. You can usually figure out which hotel your booking or at least narrow it down to two.
