UPDATE!!!!Anyone successfully make a Disney reservation at a popular restaurant 1month prior
We are trying to get reservations at Ohana for September & I'm Wondering if I'm getting my hopes up.
Or is it not likely to happen at this point.
UPDATE......we got a reservation, actually for a different day than planned, but I think it will work even better!

I would keep checking - I have noticed a few things freeing up here and there that weren't available when I first looked. You may have luck closer to the date since they have a cancellation charge.
ETA - I really wanted to do a character breakfast with Mickey and whatnot and when I first looked, they had nothing. A week or so ago, I found a breakfast, at 8am, at the Tusker house so things do open up!

You have a good shot. Ohana is one of the restaurants that requires a credit card deposit and charges a $10 per person fee for no shows. I have found that if you keep checking things do open up. I've gotten dinner reservations 3 times at Le Cellier this way.

Check often, daily and you will get one. Maybe not your ideal time but you will get one I am sure.

You have a shot don't give up. I would call every day and call down there since it is a credit card place people will cancel esp right before the 24 hr mark so don't give up. They do pop up. They might not be the time or date you want but people do cancel.

I have had luck a week out getting really popular places (CRT, etc.). I would just keep checking online, I honestly wouldn't bother calling. You have to get through 10 prompts and end up on the phone for a half hour just for them to say no.

It's for the evening we arrive. We are staying there & after driving we wanted something really fun to look foward to in the evening, & not have to leave the resort since the next day will be the big, early rope drop!!!! My girls LOVE hula stuff (my youngest 1yo birthday was luau). & my oldest loves LILO, so Ohana is so perfect.
So is it worth calling throughout the day? Or is really online more worth it?
I'm a SAHM, I'll call all day if I have too

Have you tried 1900 Park Faire? It is next door at the GF and very easy to get to if you are at the Poly - just hop on the monorail - you used to be able to walk to the GF but with the construction at the GF not sure if they still have a path open or now - maybe someone else would know. But that is with Cinderella, the Prince, stepmother and step sisters. Or you could take a boat over to the WL easy enough and hit whispering Canyon cafe.

I have heard on the disboards that they will take walk-ins if you show up just before 5pm.
Also, my understanding is that there are no characters at dinner - just at the breakfast. If you want characters, you may want to hop the monorail to Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary.

You might get lucky. We wanted the 'ohana breakfast and tried every day before our trip and it wasnt available then one morning when we were down there we just gave it a shot (called about 700am) and got in for 900am!

It's the same info either way, so unless you enjoy being on the phone (I don't at all, especially calling THEM! lol), then by all means call. It's just easier to look online

We weren't looking for necessarily a character meal. We have a few of them already booked. We just wanted a fun on-site dinner.
I wish I saw that dress sooner, I just ordered a different dress, cause my youngest is having a Minnie Mouse (red, white) for her Sept 2nd birthday.

That's what I'm worried about. Which is why my hubby & I are very disappointed that our original reservation's date was messed up! Because now we have no reservation for Ohana.

AAAAHHH - that explains it! We are going the week after, which I thought was an off week, and I was quite surprised about how little availability there was! We are staying offsite so I was unaware of that.

thats awesome!! so funny i didnt realize i basically posted the same question! we are going this september. The last day we are doing Ak during the day and was not sure what we were doing at night . I never booked any dinner for that night and now i am kind of screwed. i really want ohana but they are booked along with anything decent! you give me hope though!! i think i am just going to checking daily for any of the nicer restaurants...

Actually my Disney Specialists at Mouse Tails Travel worked their magic. One was canceling a reservation, while the other was waiting to scoop it right up!
