honestly? this is UNREAL! i would do liek the other poster said, if she wants the gift, she can come pick it up, but then she would owe me her cost of a plate for the baby shower. and i would have the balls to say this to her as well, i'm not shy.
However, since this is your DH's co-worker, I would make him do the dirty work.

It should be between the person who gave you the gift and the lady who owes her the $$ for it.
I guess I would just give her the $ for it since you need the item, instead of refusing to give it back to her...how awkward either way!!
