When would be best time to try?
For past 2 months, my cycles have been about 45 days long. If this is the case, around which time period would be best to to have the best chance?

Re: When would be best time to try?
its tough with long cycles, i highly recommend using an OPK or temping for a month or two so you can get an idea of when you O. I thin i remember reading that a LP is typically 10-14 days. so maybe to be safe start around CD25 and bd that week

So by CD you ladies mean the day of cycle? Which I start counting from first day of period?

yes, cycle day 1 is the first day of your period. and it keep going from there until you get your next period. If you want, you can use OPK's HOWEVER, the first thing my RE told me (that my OBGYN didn't and he told me i would have no problem) was NOT to use OPK's. when you have PCOS, the results on the OPK's are generally skewed and are not always accurate. you may never get a positive or you may get false positives, although its more likely that you just won't get a positive at all. that's why its easier to go in for monitoring so they can tell you exactly where you are with your cycle. So honestly, i wouldn't waste the money on the OPK's. you could try taking your temperature every day at the same time and chart what they are, but the problem with this is that you won't really know if you ovulated until after you ovulated because of the spikes in temperature, but those would be more accurate for you than the OPK's because of your PCOS. Even if your RE told you to wait "a few months" for the metformin to help, me personally, iwould still go back and keep pushing forward and not wait, which is actually exactly what i did.

My OB always said 14 days before my period. I would always ask him if he had a time machine or something. (My cycles varied extremely.)
If your cycles are consistently 45 days, I'd say around CD30-32.
Yes, you count CD 1 as the first day of a full-flow period.
Mine did get a little pattern at one point and would switch off 34 days then 59 days every other cycle. I conceived DD around CD47 and got my BFP around CD63. (Based on her measurements at my first appointment to calculate my due date and working backwards with a calendar.) So it sounds like that was going to be a 59-day cycle and I probably O'd around 14 days before, around CD45 (makes sense since we had a girl).

Re: When would be best time to try?
This is great to know - thank you!
I think we're going to just start in a few days - currently on CD10 -- and just as much as possible until when I think my period is coming. I want to see if this approach works
Does every other day work? or should it be every day around the time I think I might be Ovulating?

I would just say do it every other day. All month long.
