Heartbeat concern -

I went for an u/s last Tuesday and measured at 6 weeks - no heard heartbeat, but saw a flicker

Last night, I was bleeding (enough to bleed through my shorts - sorry for the TMI). I made an appointment for today sure that I was having a miscarriage. They did an u/s and I'm measuring at 6w6d, but the heartbeat was 122. Can a good outcome come from this?

Thanks

I think the hb is in the 120s at first then goes up to the 170s then back to 140s later so 122 seems fine. If there was still a hb then the bleeding could be a totally different and common issue.Chat Icon

did you hear the HB at all last week? or did you just see it on the monitor? Just because you didn't hear the HB last week doesn't mean they weren't able to measure how quickly it was beating.
when I was 6w i started spotting and then on the 4th of July I started bleeding so heavy that I was sure i was having a miscarriage. It was like AF just came to visit. we went to the ER and the baby was fine. I continued to spot and bleed for another 2½ weeks before it stopped. It could be just old menstrual blood that was stuck to your lining that is becoming dislodged now as your uterus expands to accomodate your growing baby.
Did you OBGYN mention what they thought of the HB being 122 now? I would go by whatever your OBGYN says, if they don't seem worried over it being 122, then do not worry about it. However, I do know that usually when the fetus is that small, their heartbeats are generally higher, but then again, every baby is different so you can't compare one to another.
Have you made another appointment for another sono?

My baby's HB at 6w6d was 156, but doctor said they look for it to be between 120 and 180

so 122 is within the range

Antonella- I didn't hear a heart beat last week. They said 122 was slower than they'd like. Normally, they'd like to see it in the 140s. I'd just like to see if there are others like me who have had a slower heart rate and have had success. Just nervous

Thanks for responding. I think I feel a bit better - although I wish they had a reason as to why I was bleeding.

I think you're fine! If there was a concern, you OB would have let you know. I know bleeding is coming in the first tri.

I think you're fine! At 6w4d LO's hb was 120. I had spotting from 6w6d to 7w1d so ran to the dr and the HB at 7w1d was up to 139. I'm now just over 13w and baby is doing well!

Spotting (even bleeding) is disconcerting but not necessarily a sign of a m/c. Also you are so early that the baby's hb is just picking up in speed. It should be faster at your next appt. As hard as it sounds - just don't worry! Drink plenty of fluids and stay off your feet as much as possible until the bleeding stops. And obviously no running, heavy lifting, or BDing.
