I am feeling overwhelmed every time I look at buy buy baby. There are not too many reviews on things. How do I know which one is best? Should I go there first and will they guide me?

i agree it was really overwhelming but i took it one step at a time:
i got the Baby Bargains book and started looking at the main necessities (stroller, car seat, etc). I found a few that got good reviews, then checked out the prices & reviews on amazon. Then i went to the store and played with the strollers/whatever and chose whichever one i liked most.
good luck

Re: registering where to begin
we went to the BBB in nyc, and had a really great experience. both DH and i are clueless, but luckily the consultant we had was incredible. she spent 2.5 hours with us, and created our entire registry. definitely go in person, and make an appointment for a consultant to go with you. makes a world of difference.

Definitely overwhelming! I mostly went and started trying things out like strollers and picking out things I liked. Whenever I looked at reviews online, there were always both glowing and negative reviews for each item and it took too much time. I would look at safety ratings & reviews for the car seat though.

Re: registering where to begin
I am registering at BRU but i also find the whole task overwhelming at times. There are so many name brands to choose from for everything!
I searched for reviews on LIF forums for the big items (stroller, car seats, etc) and i also read reviews on other websites. I relied alot on what other parents said worked for them. I asked family members what they liked or disliked.
The smaller items like bottles, diapers and other necessities i'm finding it really hard to decide!
If there arent many reviews online for BBB try looking at the reviews on BRU, they have alot of reviews for most of their products.

Re: registering where to begin
I started with baby bargains. I also watched reviews on youtube. Babygizmo does great reviews especially for strollers! And I did a little at a time

Baby bargains! We started with big items like the stroller, car seats, etc online. After that we had a list of things we needed and registered in the store.

I asked BTDT moms and got a lot of great advice- I went based on that.

Re: registering where to begin
The Baby Bargains book was definitely the most helpful for me. Talking to other mom's, reading other online reviews, and going to stores to check things out in person narrowed down our choices further.

Re: registering where to begin
If you can snag a new mom to go with you when registering, then do it!!
My sister went with us and told us what was good, what was helpful, what sucked, and what was a complete waste of money. My sister pointed things out, my DH scanned them, and I followed them around thinking about lunch! Plus, my sister got a few hours out of the house kid-free while her husband stayed home with her son.
Advice from other moms on LIF helped a lot. For the big things like strollers, I watched the video reviews online and youtube demonstrations on how to use them.

Re: registering where to begin
We scanned most big stuff in the store. I wanted to wheel the strollers around. I got half way through the store and needed to rest so I finished online.

Re: registering where to begin
it is def overwhelming
before we went into store i made lists
i read baby bargains, consumer reports and talked to btdt moms
i brought my lists with me and we went section by section
to know what we were looking for was key...like for example we want dr browns bottles,4 oz and 8 oz etc
and u can always fix it up online
