What are your 18 month olds up to?

Was just curious what everyone's 18 months old are into and doing? What toys do they like to play with, are they talking a lot? Thanks!

DD will be 18 months on the 9th.

She repeats everything we say - I'd say she has over 100 words by now. She says some 2 word phrases like "not nice" "no worries" "i'm okay" "good girl"

She can count to 3 on her own - and up to 10 when we do it with her. We're working on ABC's.

She has animal magnets and can name them all and tell us what they "say"

We just started giving her crayons and paper and she loves it.

She's starting to be really independent (or wants to be!) so I give her "chores" to do to help me. When I'm wiping the kitchen down she says "clean?" so I give her a paper towel and she goes to town on the lower cabinets. If something has to go into her room like her shoes or a new package of diapers I ask her to put them in her room. She loves helping me.

We just taught her to spin around and to march. So we have fun getting dizzy and marching around the living room.

She knows itsy bitsy spider and asks us to do it about 100x/day

She's been showing interest in the potty so I bought her an Elmo potty and she'll go in and sit on it, rip some toilet paper off and "wipe", throw the TP in the potty, close the lid and push the button on the side to flush. It's so cute. We are going to start potty training really soon. Can't wait to be done with diapers!!

As far as toys go, she is obsessed with bubbles, balls, her baby doll, the animal magnets, crayons, "cooking" (i give her a plastic mixing bowl with a whisk and spoon) - we plan on getting her a little kitchen soon, and books. She loooooves books.


I have to say this is my favorite age so far.

This is my favorite age too! DD is 17 mos, and is so fun. She loves to dance, and tries to sing. She repeats everything and has a vocab of prob 100 words and puts 2-3 words together. She loves her books and naming the animals, their sounds, etc. counts to 5 and can say abc's (A through G). She loves elmo and Mickey mouse club house and sings "hotgawg dance". She also is entering her last week of survival swim, and went from a screaming lunatic at week 1, to now being able to jump in, go under, swim to side and get out.
She loves blocks and her shopping cart.
I wish she'd stay this age forever.
