Anyone else have a noise sleeper?

I dont know if this is normal or not but thought I would ask to see if i was alone.

When we put DD down to sleep at night in the either the bassinet or the Nap nanny she is constantly grunting, choking sounds (shes not though) snorting and making noise like shes uncomfortable.

I know that @ 7 weeks she will be making more noises but this is only when shes sleeping up in our room, in the pack and play or if she falls asleep in the swing she doesnt do that.

The kicker is when she is making those sounds as soon as I go to comfort her or see what is happening a second later she settles and is peaceful. As I stare at her to see if shes going to do it again she doesnt, that is until I lay my head down on the pillow. Its not like shes hungry I know that sound but i feel like my child is playing mind tricks on me and my sleep.

Am I alone, any ideas?

Re: Anyone else have a noise sleeper?

DS is 4 months and was very noisy the first 8 weeks...grunted, twisted and turned...head went side to side, etc. When talking to other moms, they said it can happen, I noticed it was more towards the end of his sleep, when he was closer to waking up.

I will tell you, I noticed that he was arching his back and swallowing...which ended up being reflux, and once i started meds, it calmed down a a lot...not sure if it was the reason, could totally be coincidental, due to just his age and time passing.

Hang in there, once they hit that 3 month mark, it gets easier.

edited to say that ds was diagnosed with a milk allergy at 3 months...but again, may not have anything to do with sleep noise.

We moved first DS out of our room at one month because he was so loud! Second Ds was loud too but more bearable.

SO noisy! She grunts and whines, and keeps me awake even when she's sleeping. She definitely does this more in the bassinet than when she's sleeping in her swing. She will be transitioning to her crib by this weekend, for my sanity!Chat Icon

DD has been a grunter since the day she was born. I got so freaked out in the hospital during one night, that I called in the nurse to see if it was normal. She told me some babies are more “juicy” than others. Good times!

Re: Anyone else have a noise sleeper?

ugh, I totally have a sleep grunter! Despite the sleep deprivation, I still think its hilarious to hear him making crazy sounds only to walk into their room and see a totally silent sleeping baby :) If I didn't know better I'd think he does on purpose.

At 3 months old now he tends to only grunt and make little noises at night (which is of course amplified 100x by the monitor). It is totally normal and I've found the grunting has decreased with time.

DD used to squeal while she was falling asleep....I used to wait downstairs until she stopped because I couldn't bear to be around it

Now at 13 months she sometimes will cry out but is pretty much silent

same with my girl. Just now she is making her "stretching" noise. She crinkles her face up and almost growls. She hums in her sleep, too. She has been a noisy sleeper since the hospital stay and has continued. I love listening to her.
