milk protein allergy?
Usually the main symptom is blood in the stool. But it isn't always visible. If you bring a poopy diaper to the ped, they can test it for you. Other symptoms can be gassiness, excessive spitting up, or crying in pain.

Thanks. DD is just so gassy I'm wondering what it could be that's making Jr Luke that. She's BF and ear pretty good.I'm thinking maybe I need to cut out dairy also.

I'd recommend keeping a diary of everything you eat. Then, note the times she is gassy and see if you see any patterns in the foods you've eaten before those times. Cutting out dairy isn't easy (though definitely doable- I did it for a year), so I wouldn'y do it unnecessarily! You could bring it up to your ped too, they may want to test a poopy diaper. HTH!

Re: milk protein allergy?
He would scream, arch his back and took forever to get even a few oz. of formula down. We then noticed blood in his poop and was a clear sign that was the problem. We switched him to Nutramagin and he was put on prevacid and he turned into a different baby in a day
The good thing also, he actually grew out of it around 4 months and we stopped giving him the med's, but kept him on the Nutramagin to play it safe and to be honest we were too scared to switch him to anything else even though the stuff is $$$$.
He was eating yogurt, ice cream, etc.. with no side effects as well and we switched him to milk at 11 months.

Re: milk protein allergy?
main sign was blood in his poop at 3 1/2 months. Before that he would scream and arch his back but we thought he had reflux. I wouldn't just cut it out of your diet because while it seems easy to cut cheese, milk out, so much is made with dairy. I can't eat most breads, any cold cuts, any fried foods. You have to be a label stalker and it's extremely hard to go out to dinner because you just don't know if something gets contaminated in the kitchen. I would have your DC stool tested at the Ped first. If you do decide to cut dairy out, some of the girls on this site were super helpful so make sure to reach out! My DS is 6 1/2 months now and I will be trying around 8 months to enter small amounts back in, although I will never go back to drinking cows milk or most dairy products since I have done my research

Re: milk protein allergy?
For my DD, the only symptom was green poop that ended up being streaked with blood. She is a terrible spitter upper, but since I have been dairy free it hasn't gotten much better, so I am not calling that a milk allergy symptom.
As the PP's said, you can have her poop checked at the Ped. It's a very quick test.

milk protein allergy?
The main symptom was blood and mucousy stool. He began crying A LOT at 2 weeks of age, and then at 3 weeks I noticed blood in his diaper. He did arch his back when feeding at 1 week and ended up having reflux too. As soon as they checked the diaper he tested positive for milk protein allergy. Ped asked me questions about family history of allergies, etc (which we had).

Re: milk protein allergy?
when DS was 4 months old, he began spitting up increasingly more. Within a few days, he was having 6-9 BMs per day, very loose. By 7 days, he was projectile vomitting bottles so we made a ped appt for the next day (thinking it was a virus).
The night before his appt, i noticed blood (stringy like, almost like blood and tissue) and mucous in his BMs.
It all came on pretty suddenly at 4 months. He was always gassy but never complained my good baby... going through all that and never a complaint.
They tested his stool and put him on Alimentum right away. Took about two weeks but a 100% turn around and we never looked back!
