Re: "Nanny" rates - need help quick!

Assuming a 40 hour work week, then it works out to $7.50 an hour. That is low in my opinion.

But I think it also depends on who this person is. Is this job their livelihood? Or is this another mom who is home with their child and will also watch yours? How much experience do they have? Will they provide snacks and lunch, or will you? Will they take your baby out, to the park, etc.?

I saw that you edited to say that the person is a family member. IMO that does not mean that you should pay them any less. Family member or stranger, they are doing the same work.

Re: "Nanny" rates - need help quick!

For one baby it isn't bad as long as she agrees with it.. I worked as a nanny a few years ago and had 3 kids from newborn-6 and only got 420 a week... I worked 9 hours a day and had to do a lot more...

If it's in her home, I would say that rate sounds about right. When I looked into state licensed home daycare for my kids the two people I spoke to said $4 per child per hour. These providers had a several children that they were taking care of. For similar hours, I am paying someone $525 a week to come to my home. HTH

Considering this isn't a "nanny" that comes to your house, then yes it's fair. Especially if it's off the books.
