What is your child's favorite book?

I am hoping the lovely mommies on this board can help me out.

I am looking to buy a bunch of children's books for a gift for my girlfriend at her baby shower.

What book would you recommend? What is your child's favorite book?

I am also looking for ideas on ways to present them to her.

Other than a bookcase, where do you store your child's books? Basket, trunk...etc.

I appreciate all your help!!

What is your child's favorite book?

I keep DD's board books in a basket. I got some at Michael's that say "Baby's Things". I love On the Night You Were Born and DD loves Farm Peekaboo bc it has pictures of real babies she loves to look at. She also loves the Baby Einstein plastic books and the one from Sassy that you can put photos in. Barnes and Noble also has board book versions of a few classics which I love. There are Pride and Prejudice and Alice in Wonderland books that we have. I also like I Love You Stinky Face, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and Brown Bear Brown Bear.

She used to love the ones with really colorful pictures that are labeled like this one:

External Image

I'd have to "read" them over and over.
She also liked the simple Dr. Seuss book like The Eye Book, The Foot Book, etc.

Then she was obsessed with Gabba books, then it was her Potty book (which would be a good shower gift- esp if she knows what she's having).

Recently it's the Pinkalicious and Pinkalicious and the Pink Drink books (She calls them Pink Delicious Chat Icon), We're Going on a Bear Hunt and a few others we got from the library.

Re: What is your child's favorite book?

At 3 my son is now into the Superhero books - He also likes Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day - but I think it's partly b/c I crack up while I'm reading it which he finds amusing ......

but before this insanity started, and when he was between 1 - 2.5 he loved:

Goodnight Gorilla - he found it hilarious that the Gorilla was letting all of the animals out of their cages and to sleep in the zookeepers house.

Goodnight Moon

Pajama Time (but you have to sing song that one and sound like an idiot for them to like it) LOL

and another one that I can not think of the title of .......but it was his absolute favorite and we read it 5 billion times

"I wrote to the zoo to send me a pet, they send me an elephant. He was too big.....I sent him back" "So they sent
me a lion. He was too fierce, I sent him back......." - You get the picture.
With that one we did all of the sounds the animals make and he knew all of them before he was 15 months old .......

He also liked picture books so we would would just go through the pictures and colors and he liked to me to point to things so he could tell me what they were .......

Re: What is your child's favorite book?

My friend signed DS up for this and he gets a new book once a month for 6 months or something like that.

Lollipop Book Club

You can always buy her a bookshelf and in the card write a poem or something about how to help fill this bookcase, she will be receiving a book once a month (or whatever you sign up for).

The books come sent with a lollipop washcloth attached and a sticker to put in the book that says "Love, Jane" so he will always remember who gave him the book.

At 18 months, Goodnight Moon is still a favorite—especially now that she can say many of the things mentioned in the book.

I also bought her a 4-book Elmo library with flaps for Xmas. (BRU) She loves every single book in the collection, especially the food book. She likes to call out all the different foods. Chat Icon
