New to this: Block Party HELP?
I just moved to LI from the city and have never been to a block party.
Besides giving money to the organizer am I supposed to do anything else? Does each home provide drinks, food, etc? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: New to this: Block Party HELP?
Usually you pay money to the organizer for things for activities for the block to enjoy, such as a DJ, bouncy house, dunk tank, etc. But you set up your own party at your house with food and drink.
My parents' block does a party every year, and my mom puts folding tables and chairs on the driveway, brings out a big cooler of drinks, and we do our own food.
But as part of the "group fee," her block party organizer gets a few extra specialty food carts in like zeppoles and snow cones. But each house does their own grilling, or heroes, chips/dip, etc.
Everyone's "home base" is their own driveway/front yard, but then you go up and down the block to mingle, basically!

Typically you provide snacks, food and drinks for your own guests. You could ask if there is anything they need help organizing (arts and crafts for kids, games, ice pops)
