BTDT CIO moms, please help
How many nights did it take for your LO to go down for bed with no/minimal crying?
Here's our history: We are on night 6 with 6 month old DS and for all intents and purposes, it worked great. He has only ever cried a max of 29 minutes. I did intervals of 5, 10, 15 min and checked him if he had flipped himself to his belly. He has taken somewhere between 20-29 minutes every night. The first night was actually the shortest amount of crying. He used to be waking several times a night for a feeding - not bc he was hungry, but bc I had taught him the bad habit that bottle = sleep. Ever since Night #1, he has not woken up in the middle of the night!! He's been asleep every night by 7 pm and sleeping til 6 or 7 AM.
My question.... It's working for getting rid of the night wakings, but am I being cruel for letting him cry himself to sleep EVERY night? Is this going to be the norm? Most people said CIO worked within 3 nights for them. I say that it's working bc his night wakings are gone, which was the goal, but is he going to cry himself to sleep forever???? Do I give in? I kn ow I can 't give in at this point.... but I don't want him to sob himself to sleep all the time. aaaah just looking for some advice! thanks!

Re: BTDT CIO moms, please help
It will get better!!!!! FOr some, it takes longer and he obviously needs to learn to self soothe. 29 minutes is nothing! My ds#1 cried on and off for 2 hours one night. It only took 1 night, however we had to do CIO multiple times due to sickness, vacations, etc etc. You just have to be consistent with it and hang tough.
now is there any chance that maybe he's overtired? maybe put him to bed 15 minutes prior and see if he still cries as much. They'll fight it more when they're overtired. Just a thought.
Keep it up. He's doing great.

Re: BTDT CIO moms, please help
It took DD 2 weeks It was so sad. I went in after 5, 10, 15 mins the first few days. I think it takes longer by doing this but i didn't care because I felt like i was deserting her if I didn't. Even after 2 weeks she still cried a little & I thought she would never ever go to sleep peacefully but now she does. I rock her for 5mins & throw her in. She plays with her little fisher price aquarium until she literally falls over asleep. Naps are another story, they were a complete fail & I drive her around to fall asleep (I know that's bad but she NEEDS her 2 naps) She just turned 1, we did CIO around 9 months
