Re: Finger foods for 9mth old

As snacks:
Diced bananas, strawberries, blueberries
Puffs, mum mums, yogurt drops

As part of meals:
Diced meats, grilled cheese, egg yolk, broccoli pancakes, shredded cheese, waffle

DS can be lazy and just open his mouth so I'm really trying to cut up everything and have him pick it up. I'm still spoonfeeding him purees, yogurt, cottage cheese, oatmeal, apple sauce, etc.

ETA: I don't really think he's lazy, probably a poor choice of words, just want to work on his fine motor you know.

Thanks for your response! I want to start offering her more finger foods. She does really well picking uP the puffs and the gerber cheese doodle things. I usually give her tastes of what we are eating but she is primarily still eating baby food purées..

You're welcome!
I've been making his food and do still puree most fruits and veggies. Ped said he needs to be picking more up now, and we did blood work and his iron was low so I added the meat. Never wanted to puree meat, LOL, so I just shred it. Oh and the egg yolk helps with iron too.

Can they eat all that without teeth? I'd like to start that kind of stuff too but I've been afraid because the girls don't really have teeth yet...

What I was told was you molars really grind food and they don't come in for a while. I cut everything really small and he gums it. I waited till 6 months for solids and really go by his signals. We skipped cereals bc he hated them and I make his food so it's always had a bit more texture. Talk to your ped, but this is what ours told us to do. I use the website wholesomebabyfood.com for a lot of ideas.
