temp quesation

background: so i just started temp'ing lst week. According to the FF predicted chart, I should O today. I don't use any OPKs so can't use that to check. I have had EWCM for the past 2 days (3-4 days seems the norm for me)

I read somewhere that your temp goes up on the day you O and stays higher for about 3 days. My temp was high on Wednesday (97.1) but has dropped off since then (96.9, 96.7) does this mean I O'd on Wednesday? did i miss my chance this month?

no you didnt O yet.
when temping (esp the first month) you wont confirm ovulation until AFTER it occurs. you generally will get the temp rise AFTER ovulation, not the day of.

after you O your temp will rise and stay high until you get AF or are pregnant. it does not stay high for just 3 days. you may have random "higher" temps here and there, but unless it rises and stays higher for AT LEAST three days, you cannot confirm ovulation. once it has stayed high for 3 days, and remains high, then you can assume the day prior to the first high temp was ovulation day.

you might want to read the book Taking Charge of your Fertility or the Fertility Friend website. they both explain temping very in depth but easy to understand. good luck!

believe me when you O you will know it. the temp rise won't be slight. it will be like if you average high 96 low 97s, it will be high 97s low 98s. it should be fairly noticeable. are you charting the temps? that makes it easier to see the shift. def read taking charge of your fertility and use fertilityfriend.com. they are both extremely useful. good luck!
