How long after a c-section
Did you get to hold your baby? Is it different in different hospitals? I'm delivering at stony brook if that makes a difference. Thanks

How long after a c-section
I believe you can in recovery, I had my section done there but it was two operations in one so I had to be out all the way. I have to say the nurses were WONDERFUL with letting me see him after in the NICU at 4:30 am

How long after a c-section
I was able to hold my son in recovery so I guess it was within 30 minutes of him being delivered...honestly can't remember all that well. I was at Good Sam.

Well, my DH got her right away and brought her over near me but once I was in recovery I got verrrrrrrrry sick from the morphine so I didn't hold my DD until 12 hrs after she was born.

i delivered at winthrop ... i held him IN the OR  then he was placed between my legs while I was wheeled to recovery. as soon as I was in recovery, they put him right back in my arms!

She was born at 12:43 am and I didn't get her until after 3am. This was at Good Sam, had to wait until i was in my room.
Sucky-est thing ever.

Sorry to crash. I delivered at Stony Brook & I had him in recovery almost immediately & held him & loved on him for a good hour. Then I didn't see him until I was in my room.

I got to hold her immediately for a minute, then they took her to do all the tests and dH went with her while I got put back together. I don't remember much after that ... I was really groggy for a while - I got some meds while they were putting me back together.

I did not hold the baby in the OR but I was on a morphine overload after he was out. I had a fever in recovery so I didnt hold him until i was in my room. As soon as I got him I was very sick from all of the pain meds I had to stop holding him because I was throwing up. Not sure if this is the norm!

Thank you everyone for your replies! DD was a natural birth so this time around will be so different for me. I just hope I get some cuddle time before the baby has to go to the nursery :)

Right away both times in the operating room. I held them as I was rolled into the recovery room.

With DS, right away. He was rolled with me to recovery.
With DD, she unexpectedly wound up in the NICU so it wasn't until many hours later.
