What to wear in Alaska in August
Going on an Alaskan Cruise in August.
I will be 21 weeks pregnant at the time so I'm nervous about having the right type of clothes to wear.
I have jeans and a few t-shirts but I am trying to avoid buying too many casual clothes that won't work for my office.
When on the boat - are summer clothes ok for day/night? I am thinking of dresses in the evening with a cardigan if needed. Should I pack shorts/tanks for the day?
On excursions, I understand layers are a good idea, but that is posing a challenge to find long sleeve maternity clothes at this time. Can I get away with t-shirts and a light jacket?

We went late June. When we pulled up next to the glaciers, I was wearing two sweatshirts, jeans and a blanket around my shoulders and I was still shivering.

My SIL & BIL just came back about 2 weeks ago and they both had jeans, sweatshirts and layers in all the pictures. Also, I know August is the rainy season so keep that in mind when packing.
Have a great time!

We went in Aug two years ago and it was quite cold. You will most likely need sweaters (winter weight), sweatshirts, and a a jacket of some kind. I also highly recommend some fully waterproof gear, jacket and pants. And don't forget a fleece hat and gloves, maybe even a scarf.
Honestly I wouldn't even bother with t-shirts. I wore long sleeves the entire two weeks.

We went in mid-September and i wore long sleeves when we were out. Sometimes i had on a scarf too. When we went hiking, i started out in a jacket and by the time we were done i was down to a tank top. Definitely layer your clothes. And have a jacket for night time.

What to wear in Alaska in August
I went late July/early August and it was never really warm. Especially at night, on the ship, it was pretty chilly. For excursions off the ship I needed a winter jacket and hat/gloves (for going onto the galciers) and for others, (visiting the port towns) a few heavy layers were ok.

I went in August and the weather went both ways. I would def bring clothes you can layer and rain gear. Some days it was nice for a Tshirt and Jeans in the sun but most times during the day you need a light coat at a minimum.

Absolutely layers and just have shorts/tees available for your plane ride home. Is there someone you can borrow winter clothes from?

Same experience here. Wear layers!
