Painting furniture q.......
My daughter's dresser is from Gothic Cabinet. We put clear poly on it 7 years ago and now I'm in the midst of redoing her room.
Do I sand it first or can I just paint over it with no sanding? Should I be using a matte or white semi-gloss paint?

lightly sand it.
You can use an oil based primer and use latex over that.
There are a few links on pinterest that have good tips on painting furniture.
I also find the guys at Aboffs to be pretty helpful. If you can take a picture of the piece and bring it into the store with you.

Sand it, you want the paint to hold. You don't have to go crzy just rough it up with a light grade sand paper.
