stims question

i don't start stims until the end of next week but they have me taking 375 units of follistim and 1 vial of menopur a day......does that seem like a lot????

when i did injectable IUI cycles i never did more than 150 units of follistim so i'm freaked out.

I took the one vial of menopur but I was on 112 units from the Gonal F pen. They adjusted lower as they needed to and eventually I was on 1/2 a menopur and no gonal F. Not really sure if that was helpful except to say they followed my progress and changed things when they needed to. You might want to ask what made them choose those doses, that might help you put your mind at ease.

that does sound like a lot but the point is to produce a lot more eggs than for an IUI cycle. so trust your doctor. thats why you get so much monitoring during IVF. they are constantly adjusting. a few days at a high dose shouldn't result in crazy hyperstimulation.

I think I began with 300 or 350 gonal and a vile of menopur in the beginning. Then they dropped it according to how I reacted. I think towards the end it was 150 then 75.

And the calendar might say 350 accross the board but you will be monitoring and will get a new calendar each time. I monitored every other day.

I started with 3 vials of menopur and as they monitored me they dropped it down to 1 vial and then back up as need be. Don't worry they must have a reason to start you on so much but they will certainly adjust it. Good luck

I've tried 4 different protocols but for me 375 is usually my drop down dose! My last successful IVF I began at 600 for a couple days then down to 375 with 1 vial of Menopur. Meds may change depending upon how well you're responding. It's good to keep on top of what and how much you're taking. If you have any concerns just ask your RE.

thank you all i promised myself i'd stay "in the moment" during the process and yet i'm already worrying about what will happen next week. i completely trust my doctor so now i just have to stop trying to control and uncontrollable process

I think they mentioned to me they would start me at 225 of gonal-f and possibly one vial of menopur... I trust that they know what they are doing
