Has anyone ever used biotin for hair growth?
I just bought some on the advice of my hair stylist last week. Haven't taken it yet...been looking up any side effects( haven't come across any). I'm a baby and get nervous taking things!

That was something else I was considering....I'm not TTC, but I know prenatal's are supposed to be great for hair & nails!

I took it for a while, I wouldn't say it helped my har but it definitely helped my nails. Just take prenatals if you're afraid...

Re: Has anyone ever used biotin for hair growth?
I've been taking 5mg daily on top of my multi-vitamin for 2+ years and I see no difference in my hair or nails.

I've been taking them on and off, sometimes I forget. Like someone said, they do make the hair everywhere else longer quicker. I have to get my eyebrows done a lot sooner than when I never took them. I nails are in fantastic shape too. I believe they work, especially since I have to shave all the time.

Re: Has anyone ever used biotin for hair growth?
I take 5000mcg (5mgs) of biotin daily along with a mutli-vitamin. Definitely a huge difference with my nail growth and some difference with my hair. My hair is actually growing in thicker. Thankfully I haven't expereinced extra hair growth other than my head.

Has anyone ever used biotin for hair growth?
The wife and I are TTC, and she has been taking pre-natals instead of a multi vitamin for a few months now.
She bought a hair supplement the other day, I looked and it has 3,000 mcg of Biotin, so I did some research and found this: -- http://www.livestrong.com/article/429126-biotin-and-pregnancy/ There are some concerns that a lack of biotin in the female body could increase your risk of having a child with birth defects. In some animals, low biotin levels lead to an increased risk of birth defects, even if the deficiency is not severe enough to cause signs of low biotin in the the mother. This same increased risk of birth defects has not been reported in humans, but more research needs to be done.
Although biotin supplements are safe when taken in normal doses, taking too much biotin can also be dangerous for pregnant women. High doses of biotin inhibit the growth of both the fetus and the placenta, EMedTV states. This increases the risk of miscarriage --
Not sure how accurate it is (the 2nd paragraph) but Im going to tell her to skip the supplement.
