I am also confused...this thread I thought was more of a support group type GTG which for me is a bit too much...I like the GTG's where we can just talk and if & when IF comes up we can talk about it informally...I know IF is how we connect but I dont like it to be the only thing we discuss...I think I will start a July GTG thread and see who would like to volunteer to host  ...

Not soo sure what a "normal" dynamic GTG is....I know Kel hosted one last month that was great and pretty much was I too, was looking to do. Maybe you misunderstood.
My idea was to host a GTG once a month, anyone and everyone would be welcome to come. Everyone can bring a little something and based on who is coming and what their "expertise" is/or what issues they have been dealing with will determine certain topics we can discuss. Of course, it woulldnt be limited to IF issues but I would like the main focus to be that.
I saw that the July GTG thread was already posted so I guess Ill start mine in August.

I was really using them as one in the same...GTG that "Suppot" eachother in this journey we are all on... Although it is great to get together and hang out, I think there are a lot of women going through this process alone, confused, and would like some other answers and opinions based on different peoples experiences. It wouldnt be formal but I do think it is important that if girls came for support and had questions they didnt have to leave without any answers or clarity.
I feel that GTG cant be "too planed" but I also wouldnt want to just "wing it" and see what happends. Especially since I have had some FM from girls who want to travel (30+min) to come to talk about IF.
If your free on the night I decide to host mine you are welcome with open arms. Since you already started a July GTG I dont want to step on toes so Ill post for an August one :)
Maybe Ill see you at yours in July!

I think that women are confused because you used the word 'support' group instead of GTG even though I feel they are almost the same thing. We go to the GTGs for support, we are on this site for support, we FM each other for support so honestly I don't see the difference and why the word support would confuse other women. I think that some women do go to the GTG hoping to discuss things and maybe leave without getting certain answers because they were afraid to ask. I think it's a great idea for women to FM you with topics they would like to discuss and maybe be brought up to converse about. I think some women hear the word support group and see a leader with clip board in her hand, crossing off topics and silence but thats not what one is.
The GTGs are support groups, yes we discuss other things however thats what you do at support groups too. You don't just walk in and start talking about IF. I truly believe, and I have said this numerous times, that I now have a son after going through IF for 7 years and never getting pregnant once, due to the support of the women on this sight. I can remember a few conversations with women that changed my whole outlook on this journey and got me to where I am now.
I just reread what you wrote Julie and I guess Im just stating the same thing. I hope you do host the August GTG and hopefully women who have never gone to the GTGs will come and get their questions answered. Maybe we will see each other at the July one too.

First off, congrats on your DS...what a success story and an amzing inspiration to women not to give up!!! 7 years is a long time and thats amazing you did that!!! I appreciate your post and clarifying further...sometimes with emails/chats/boards etc. there can be some consufion... I do hope to meet you as well...
Looking forward to meeting a lot of these strong women :)

Julie, i totally get what you are saying and i think its a very sweet and great idea. i have never been to a GTG.. im not too sure that im open to discussing everything face to face. im a little emotional these days. i might be the one to have a breakdown..

It's ironic because you think you're going to be an emotional mess, a disaser with tears crying down your face, but believe it or not, the GTG's are very helpful and healing. They are supportive and I've ALWAYS felt better after each one. We all have our specific unique issues, some are more complicated than others, but in the end, we're all in the same boat.

THINKING ABOUT STARTING...
Maybe I was confused because I went to a support group once ,not for IF, and it was more of a formal meeting where the leader was standing there going over topics and asking direct questions to people...for me I was really uncomfortable because I really did not want to speak up and I feel I was forced to do so... that is what I had thought this was...I like the gtg's and how casual/informal they are but I can see that if someone came to one for answers to questions that they may not get them....maybe having it every month at the same place and the specific topics iis what threw me off since with the gtg's it has been that someone offers to host them at their home and they were not so planned out...
