Rehoboth Beach Rave!!
DH, DS and I came down over the weekend with all my ILs.
So far, we are having an amazing time.
We are staying in a newly built 6-bedroom 4.5 bath home 2 blocks from beach, boardwalk and town.
It's not cheesy/seedy like a lot of the places along the Jersey Shore, not pretentious like many of the places in the Hamptons and really seems geared to families. The town area seems very nice and has a lot of great restaurants and shops.
ETA: I know it's the beginning of the season but the beach so far has not been crowded at all, either.
Also, within about 10 minute drive are a ton of outlets and strip malls
(Realtor told my SIL that the next town over "Dewey Beach" is more the college/party scene area).
Just thought I would share because I know a lot of you look for a place to go for a summer getaway within driving distance of LI.
The drive down on Saturday was horrendous because of the traffic and time of day we left, but I think it takes about 3.5 hours from LI with no traffic.
I can share the realtor info via FM.

I used to go to Dewey Beach in the summers while I was in collegel! Definitely a party atmosphere! Bethany Beach is smaller than Rehoboth but just as family oriented. The house sounds beautiful! Have a great time!

Re: Rehoboth Beach Rave!!
I went to college in Delaware and have only been to Rehoboth once and it was after I graduated! It was a lot of fun! I remember it took us forever to get there b/c of traffic but I would love to go again. A lot of my friends from college go there all the time b/c their families have houses. I really have to go back one day.
Northern Delaware where I went to school is about 3 hours from LI and "slower lower" where the beaches are, are about another 1 1/2. The killer is Route 1 which is like 75 miles of like 2 lane road.

I went as a teenager and always wanted to go again. Maybe I can do it with the family this summer.

Re: Rehoboth Beach Rave!!
I am so glad you posted this - we are going with DH's entire family in August and I have never been! His family rented a house in Dewey Beach, but we are staying at a hotel in Rehoboth since there isn't enough room for everyone at the house.
Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Re: Rehoboth Beach Rave!!
What time did you leave LI? Did you take the ferry from Cape May? We are heading down that way this wkend and I'm worried about tons of traffic. Just trying to figure out when the best time to leave is (if there is even a good time besides middle of the night to avoid the traffic!) Thanks!

Re: Rehoboth Beach Rave!!
We left around 10:30 on Sat. because we couldn't get into the house until after 2. Hit the traffic from construction in Staten Island, and then similar on the Jersey Tnpk.
We didn't take the ferry.
In retrospect, we probably should have left a lot earlier and just hung out in town.
