Skim Coat
Has anyone done this themselves? If so how hard is it? If not, how much was it to hire someone?

Re: Skim Coat
I started doing it myself and for small areas it was fine. When I tried to do a whole room, impossible. It's a PITA to try and get the joint compound the right consistency and then to make sure the application is even and doesn't get all gunked up in corners and by the trim, so we had the big areas professionally done. If I remember correctly, it was about $300 a room, but that was in connection with other major construction, so the drywall guys were here anyways.
