Re: San Francisco hotel
I was there in Feb for a conference for work. I stayed at the Parc55. It was really nice and in a good location to see everything. There was also a BART station less than a block away, which made getting to/from the airport very easy.

Re: San Francisco hotel
we stayed at the Fairmont, and it's a really beautiful, grand old hotel with great views. only problem is that it's at the top of a big hill, so tough when walking around.

Kabuki Hotel
It's a Japanese-style hotel in Japantown. A nice change of pace from the average hotel. I remember it having very reasonable prices.

Re: San Francisco hotel
I just got back from San Francisco. We stayed at Hotel Monaco. It was in union square. It's 2 blocks off of Powell which is where the cable cars run. The hotel was really nice and we actually got a great rate right from their website.
