Question for REAs, No offense
When we were home hunting we worked with two real estate agents(not at the same time). We passed on the first one because we felt he was pressuring us to see homes in the top of our price range and was very condescending towards houses at the bottom of our range that I was more interested in.
The second agent was the same way so we just chose the house we wanted at the bottom of our range(i wanted to transition from full-time job to PT to be with babies). The REA did the sale but acted like it was a waste of her time.
At closing, another agent was present and said "Oh what a cute tiny home." Our home is a 1100 sq ft. Small but typical and not tiny.
Am i missing something here? Was their commision on this sale just not worth their time? I dont mean to offend anyone, i am just curious if perhaps there is pressure to sell the most $$$ homes possible. Maybe its just those particular REAs and we should have kept looking.

Re: Question for REAs, No offense
I'm not even a REA and can tell that it was just them.
Did you buy here on LI?
Because most people I know at least are going to be buying your style home, which still leads to a commission, and if they play their cards right, more recs when people you know may be looking for a REA ;).

Agreed.
As with any profession, there are good real estate agents and bad ones. It was the same way with attorneys, when I practiced law. And as a patient, I've gone to doctors who have been condescending or rushed or whatever, and had to switch to a better doctor. So you can't generalize (or let one bad apple spoil the bunch, in your mind!).
Real estate is a service industry, so if you were not happy with the service you were receiving, or if it was simply not a good fit personality wise, you should have moved on to someone else. (There's definitely enough of us out there!) Buying a house is a big step, and it's to feel comfortable with the agent who's helping you. I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience (twice!).
Most real estate agents are happy to make a sale, regardless of how much the home costs. I sell everything from small 1 bedroom co-op units to high end homes, and I treat my customers the same way each time. No one should feel "pushed" into buying a house or like their purchase is not important. Aside from the fact that it's just not right to treat people that way, it's also not good business. Real estate is a relationship building business, so my goal is always to provide the best level of service possible and ensure my customers are happy with me so that they will recommend me to others.

We bought a tiny 2 bedroom house - 1100 sq ft and our realtor (Beth Lowe - vendor on here) never acted that way, she was so professional the whole time and made us feel good about the purchase. So no, I don't think all are that way. I think who you dealt with was just obnoxious

thank you
I am so not like that - at all
I treat my $100K co-op listings the same way as my $600K single family homes
and the same goes for the buyers - if your my client- your my client- I roll out the red carpet- I like to think of it as relationship building- I might sell you a $200K house today- but in 5 years you could be looking for a $900K house- and I want to be the one you call!
