1/2 bath question
So.. welcome to the smallest 1/2 bath EVER! We're going to change the floor tiles but I'm not sure what color to paint the room. There is no window in this room so unfortunately there's no natural light. Also, I was originally thinking of putting up chair rail and wainscoting but I'm not sure if that will make the room look even smaller!
Thoughts?
That mirror is gone and I'll be getting a small corner one, I'm removing one of the towel holders and moving the toilet paper to the side of the toilet. I might remove the shelf also Image Attachment(s):

Re: 1/2 bath question
I'm not sure yet. Probably a neutral gray or tan

Re: 1/2 bath question
Ha! How funny we have a very small 1/2 bath, w/no natural light and the previous owners painted it the exact same color! Ours has large tan tiles. I would go w/a tan, neutral color on the walls.

Re: 1/2 bath question
I would probably do the walls in a color similar to the floor (tan or light grey), to help make the room seem a little bigger

Re: 1/2 bath question
I actually read an article that said that if you have a smaller, tighter space, such as a small powder room or tight hallway, to paint a darker color. The theory of the designers who suggested this was that the darker colors make the walls recede. I haven't tested that myself, though!
I have a small half bath (but it does have a window that brings in natural light), and we did white wainscoting on the lower half of the walls (and a lavender/grey color -- SW Ponder -- on the walls) with black and white hexagonal tiles on the floor. I like it -- it has a more vintage look. But I don't know if the wainscoting would make it feel even smaller...
Another idea -- my friend who owns a beautiful center hall colonial in Scarsdale and has impeccable taste recently re-did her first floor half bath and put up toile-patterned wallpaper (in red and white). If you like a kind of historical, colonial american or french country sort of look, I think the wallpaper really worked well in the small space. It gives a lot of movement to the walls, if that makes sense!

Re: 1/2 bath question
I'm actually liking the floor. Sort of looks like Granite? (at least from the pic) If it were me, I'd skip the chair rail/wainscott look, just not enough wall space. I'd probably keep the floor and go with a bold deep goldish/yellow color. (nothing bright, warm tones) and black accessories. Seriously I am digging that floor, lol.

Re: 1/2 bath question
I'd do a really beautiful tile job on the floor similar to Sarah's House. LOL.
My God I love this bathroom floor. I have the episode saved on my DVR.
