window help

So we are in the mist of a whole house reno which is not that fun right now!! Its very hard to decide on things one of which is windows.

We finally decided on wood anderson double hung windows so now what hardware do i use? White, bronze, nickel..

Also for those of you who have wood windows did you have them pre- painted white or did you stain them yourself..

Any suggestions would be very helpful :)
TIA

Re: window help

OK I'm gonna be a debby downer but I hate my Andersons. There wood on the inside and vinyl on the exterior. We had them put in 4 years ago and between seal issues (moisture) and my sons window is so bad that mold grows on it if you don't clean it, and there a pain to open the top window, and they sweal in the summer. Plus I made the mistake of going with natural wood which I ended up painting white anyways. I can't offer any other brand opinions to you but maybe someone else can. I don't know perhaps we just got a bad lot.

Re: window help

Thanks for the info. I did a lot of research and the other windows we thought about were Pella but they got really bad reviews online. I could not find that many with bad reviews with Anderson. What series do you have 200 or 400? Was the company will to come out and fix the problem? I was going to do the painted white but so many ppl talked me out of it i am so confused!! This is holding the whole house project up b/c we are replacing every window and need that done first.

Re: window help

I'll check with my husband on the series but the thing is we have to contact Anderson themselves and they take forever to send someone or get back to you. What I would recommend is buying them from a dealer, like Window Rama because if you use Home Depot they will shift you off to Anderson directly. I would totally get the white ones unless you like natural wood and are gonna stain them. Windows are alot of work to paint.
