how did you chose your RE?
Iui#1 looks like its a fail and after 16 months I need to move on but have no clue where to start. Did you make a couple of appts with diferent offices? Were the initial consultations free or do you have to pay. I know nothing about this process. TIA.

Re: how did you chose your RE?
It depends on your insurance...some require a referral from your gyn and others you can see them directly...I had HIP last yr and needed a referral but I had no co-pays now I have GHI and I have a $15 co-pay to see a doctor plus $15 for a sonogram so thats $30 each visit which adds up...I would def see a couple of docs to see which RE & practice you like the best...it may also take a couple of weeks to get an appt depending on if you want a specific doctor or not....good luck!!!

Re: how did you chose your RE?
We had consultations set with several REs. I selected them based upon SART data for my age group. I narrowed it down more by distance. When I was cycling, I had to go for bloods/sono daily. Distance was a definite issue since I had to be able to get to work after morning testing. I chose a practice with impressive stats for my age group, plus a manageable driving distance.

Re: how did you chose your RE?
My OB/GYN highly recommended RSofNY in Mineola (they have other offices too). I went there solely based on recommendation.
I have been there for 4 years and LOVE them dearly. The staff is so nice and the office is great IMO.
We see Dr. Saketos, but I also love SanRoman and Trevax. THe nurses and sono techs are terrific too.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

Re: how did you chose your RE?
After being off the pill for a year my OBGYN at the time suggested Dr. Chang at RSofNY in Mineola. I met with her once and was not too happy there. I then heard about East Coast in Plainview from a cousin. I did numerous IUI's and was a patient of Dr. Zapantis for a while. I then heard about Dr. Scholl at North Shore from a patient at my step-father's podiatry office. I did an IVF there and had my laproscopy with Dr. Rosenfield. I then moved on to Dr. Braverman after talking to the hostess at a diner that my family and I frequent. She was pregnant with twins after trying for about 16years and never getting pregnant. I set up an appointment with Dr. Braverman in June of 2010 and after 7years of unexplained infertility and never getting pregnant, on my 5th IVF I was pregnant in May of 2011. Make some consult appointments and bring all your records. Have a list of questions and check out the office and staff. Good Luck!

Re: how did you chose your RE?
I needed a referral and my obgyn recommended the RE I am currently seeing. There are only two in my area so my choices were limited. Both have similar statistics.

Re: how did you chose your RE?
I did research to find a top RE who also takes my insurance. Location was also a factor since I was going to be there so often, I wanted it to be close to my work. I wound up at RMA of NY seeing Dr Grunfeld and I am very happy there. All of the drs are great and Dr G always takes the time to personally call me back (usually in just a few minutes!) when I have a question. I'm not PG yet, but i know he will get me a little baby and that's all that matters.

Re: how did you chose your RE?
my OBGYN referred me to RSONY in stonybrook. i also wanted an RE to be in close proximity to my home considering the frequency of visits during monitoring. and insurance coverage obviously.

Re: how did you chose your RE?
My gyn recommended 4 different doctors, he told me to try them all if I wanted but to use the specific one he told me in each practice.
I had 4 appointments... one it seemed did not take my insurance so I canceled. One seemed to not get very good recommendations on here. The other, the one i am using, was with NS and my very close friend swore by that group and had gone there. I am also partial to NSLIJ. We ended up meeting with her first and we clicked right away, DH and I loved her and she was willing to try work with my high FSH issue and try IVF if necessary (which turns out it is). Since many RE's will only use donor eggs for high FSH and she was willing to use mine, it was a no brainer. IVF may cost a little more from NS (based on what others on here have said) but to me its worth a try.

I'm not counting myself out but honestly after 16 months I'm not too hopeful. Plus my ob did my iui and if you read my past posts it hasn't been a pleasant experience so trying to start my research now. I'm just getting frustrated.

Re: how did you chose your RE?
Research all of the ones that many girls on this board go to. Everyone needs and likes something different.
I went to Dr. Hershlag anf Dr. Chu at NSLIJ. there is RSONY Mineola Dr. Braverman in Woodbury LI IVF Dr. Brenner Gold Coast IVF and of course Cornell, NYU and Columbia in NYC
I am sure I'm forgetting some. I'd read the pros and cons of each RE from the point of view of ppl on this board. Most people chose by location and reputation, since you will basically live there, loll.

This exactly! Everyone has a different feel and opinion on what they expect from their RE and I think all offices have their pros and cons. I went by recommendation from a trusted obgyn and location!

Re: how did you chose your RE?
Lol, which one?
At first I just went on recommendation, then I turned to SART data and convenience of monitoring, and after a while (once I felt like they should just give me the Rx pad and let me do it myself) I started interviewing doctors for creative ideas before making a choice.

Re: how did you chose your RE?
I made an appt with dr b due to the recs on this board. I did testing with him and was going to move on to IVF but honestly did not get the warm fuzzy feeling from him when I met with him the few times. He was taking phone calls in the middle of my appt and I felt like I was not getting the attention I deserved. Not to mention the wait times were beyond insane
I then decided on Columbia based on recs that success rate and their IVF was 1/2 the price of DR B and they took my insurance. It was also very convenient to work so I would not even be late on monitoring days. Loved it there. I ended up pg on my own before I could start my cycle but will be heading back to them very shortly for #2
You really need to find a place you are comfortable with not only the Dr but the staff because you will be spending a ton of time there for appts. Also find a place that work with your work schedule to minimize the time you take off otherwise you will be using tons of time for appts
