Home bills
Dh and I are looking to start the home buying process. We currently rent and all utilities are included.
What are average bills for your home every month??
Lipa please say if you have central air, pool, a lot of square footage, electric dryer etc...
Trying to figure an average per month for the utilities we will be using.

$142 a month Lipa - no central air or pool, electric dryer and stove. 2 bedroom cape
$181 for cable
Cell phones
We order oil just when we need it, that can be expensive

"L" ranch - just under 1900 sq ft with wall a/c units and electric dryer
LIPA $160/month balanced billing
Cablevision (cable, Internet, phone) - $82/month
Home Alarm monitoring - $65/quarterly
Oil - $259/month balanced billing
Water - $33/quarterly

Lipa-305. per month YIKES
Includes CAC, pool and a million tv's (I have 6 boys and MIL)
Phone- 67. per month
still use Verizon because I'm parinoid of not having a landline
Cable- 197. per month includes modem (6 cable boxes)
Don't ask me my food bill because it's really bad!

I rent a 3 bedroom cape. We're also looking into buying in the next year. But I have a breakdown of what I pay for my utilities!
Cable: $191 (Gold Package, DVR, Phone & Internet)
Lipa: $150 Balanced Billing
Fuel Oil: Approx $700-900 every 3 months in the Winter. We are on a plan where they fill us up automatically depending on our prior usage and the temperature.
Water (SCWA): $85 Quarterly

our house is 1200 square feet, and there's just the 2 of us..also this is only based off of 2 months of bills
gas: 50/mo.
water: 50/month (we have AQUA  )
electric: 100/month
cable: 95/month for the tripe play with 1 dvr box
alarm: 30/month
food: 60-75/week
then we have cells and car insurance..my bf has student loans but now we're both working to pay them off

We've been in our house since November. It's about 1500 sq. feet and there are 2 of us.
LIPA - Bills have averaged about $120 ranging from $42 to $140. We're switching to balanced billing b/c we have CAC, ceiling fans in each room, a pool, electric everything including electric heat in the basement (no gas in our area). ETA: Balanced Billing will be $124/month for now based on our current usage.
Oil - Balanced billing @ $145/month. Oil capped at $3.67. However, last month it was $49 and we won't have a payment until July where it will resume at $125/month.
Cable/Internet/Phone - between $85-$95 a month.
Water - $30-$40 every 3 months.

I HAVE to ask!!!  ..............how the heck did you manage only 3 oil deliveries, and for so little money??!! We barely use heat in our house, we like it cold (like 63), and we still got a few deliveries that amounted to between $600-750. I HATE paying for oil!!!!

It's just DH and I and we're out of the house 10 hrs/day so I kept the thermostat really low all day and then only kicked it up a little in the evenings. We do C.O.D and shop for the best rate every time. We also bought a flipped home with all new windows, doors, walls and insulation, which I think helps.
I'm still trying to figure out how everyone has such low LIPA bills.

I'm still trying to figure out how everyone has such low LIPA bills.
We switched every lightbulb to a CFL or LED. I'm pretty diligent about making sure all lights are turned off. There are only 2 of us and we're in the same room most of the time.
Otherwise I have no idea why our LIPA bills are so reasonable. DH's computer is plugged in and on all day, We don't unplug anything, we used our electric heat downstairs nearly every night in the winter (and sometimes DH left it on during the day ), and we don't have the most energy efficient appliances. We also sleep with our ceiling fan on every single night.
As PP, we are switching to Balanced Billing because we expect our electric bill to skyrocket once the pool is running and we turn the CAC on.

Oil: Annual about $3K
Landscaping: $100/mo April -Nov. (not including cleanups)
Oil heat, gas stove (propane), no pool or Central AC. Two of us and 2 cats.
DH works from home 2-3 days a week.

Gas: $110 bal billing
FIOS (TV/Internet/Phone): $120
Water $33/quarterly

Thanks for the numbers all!
we actually found a home we LOVE tonight, 1150 square feet (tiny but perfect for us at this point in our lives)
we asked the real estate to get utility bills from current owners. We are most likely going to make an offer this week!! ahh...scary

Our house is around 1800SF
LIPA = $96.00 / month (no CAC, electric dryer and stove.
CABLE (Fios) = $175 / monthly
OIL = approx $3000 per year
And a million other misc things that ALWAYS come up with a house!

We have a 1700 sf high ranch
LIPA is 177/mo balanced billing (we have central air and use it often)
gas averages about $100 a month on balanced billing. We have gas heat, dryer and stove.
