I love o'hana and whispering canyon. I thought the food at coral reef was good, but it wasn't totally hot, and most people in my party felt the same way. Not a huge deal, but I'm not sure if i'd go back b/c of that.
Haven't eaten at the other places you mentioned.

Re: what five restaurants would you eat at disney?
Do you mean Beaches and Cream, or Cape May Cafe?:
I think Akershus and CRT might be overkill. It's mostly the same Princesses. 1900 Park Fare might be a fun alternative.
'Ohana and Whispering Canyon are great choices. Beaches and Cream is also YUMMY.
CRT is pricey but a fun experience with the LOs.
Coral Reef has mixed reviews lately but it's unique.
My favorite meals are 'Ohana and Boma.

Re: what five restaurants would you eat at disney?
My girls enjoyed both Akershus and Ohanas. I have heard good things about Whispering Canyon, and CRT is always very popular.
Which restaurant at the beach club?
I will be honest. Coral Reef is fun for the atmosphere (you have the living sea's tanks along the whole wall of the front of the dining room so you can watch the fish - and sometimes divers while you eat). The down side is that the food is mediocre - I have had better fish at Red Lobster. I even tried a steak there once that was better than their fish but not great. It is very popular - so if you go - go for the atmosphere not the food.
Where are you staying? Because it seems like you are going outside the parks for a lot of meals - will you have a car? It can be a pain and take a while to get to other hotels if you don't have a car. You would have to either go to a park and then take a bus to the resort etc.

I don't think FF and CG are for small children. VERY romantic and awesome for an adults night out, but just not for the kids IMO

I think Akershus and CRT might be overkill. .
We just went a mth ago. We had CRT and Akershus booked. Well we did CRT first and then 2 days later skipped our lunch at Akershus (and paid $30 for cancelling too late). We just felt we saw enough princesses and were so satisfied with CRT that we thought it would be overkill. So I agree with you.

I don't know I would do both if you have princess lovers. We haven't done CRT yet because I was waiting for the girls to be older (last trip both were under 3). But I plan to do both next trip because they both loved Akershus - and to me a large part of CRT is eating IN the castle. I think it depends on your party to whether I would do both or just one.

Ditto, except we didn't cancel and it was definitely overkill.

Re: what five restaurants would you eat at disney?
thanks everyone
for the beach club resort I am talking about cape may cafe ----
and we are staying in the animation studios and wasn't planning on renting a car - but perhaps maybe I should consider it..
I guess my big debate will be the story of the two princesses - we will def keep CRT since we will be doing the boutique and that since it is her fifth birthday.
so if i was to replace Akershus what would i replace with it - my DD will be just 5!!!!

Re: what five restaurants would you eat at disney?
I think it really depends on your child. Is she a big princess fan? Would she enjoy dressing up 2 nights? While it might be overkill for you the 5 year old girls I know would love it. I know that my girls would want to do both. I would worry more about having so many restaurants outside the park more than 2 princess meals. Many of our friends not only do CRT but akershus and 1900 park fair for cinderella. Many people do more than one mickey meal. Have you considered chef mickeys? Easy access from the ttc or mk. This is my opinion only but I would consider getting rid of cape may and whispering canyons because while good choices will eat up a lot of time getting to and from them. Ohana is nice but easier to get to if you are at the mk or get to the ttc. I would try to pick more places in the parks or you will be losing evenings in the parks. Which is important if you plan to take a mid day break which I would think you might with a 5 year old.

Re: what five restaurants would you eat at disney?
Meals outside the theme parks are really only issues if you're not going to the park near the restaurant that day.
I'm assuming your travel agent scheduled your meals around the parks you'd be in each day and scheduled those parks based on the best days to be in those specific parks. If he/she made them all willy nilly, well.... it can be a challenge.
Both Whispering Canyon Cafe and 'Ohana are a quick trip outside Magic Kingdom and Cape May Cafe is 5-minute walk to Beach Club out the International Gateway of Epcot.
My daughter is 9, goes to Disney much more than most, and still would be thrilled with multiple Princess meals. Heck, so am I! Whether the Castle and Akershus are too much really depends on your family. Maybe split them up and do Akershus for breakfast? I much prefer the food at breakfast to either lunch or dinner there.

We did CRT for the breakfast and we did do Akershus for dinner and we didnt regret it BUT my DD is SOOO princess obsessed so for us it made sense.
They were both adorable. Akershus was a tiny but different bc they did a parade with the kids around the restaurant and it was snow white who led the parade and DD was dressed as snow white so the "real" snow white chose myDD to walk with her...so for us...10000% loved it!!
I LOVEE Whispering Canyon and 'Ohana!

DD is 5 and we do both CRT and Akershus. She LOVES LOVES LOVES princesses and that is her main reason for loving disney. We do one the first full day and one the last day so she's happy when we start the vacation and happy when we are leaving : ). We are actually also doing 1900 Park Fair this trip too, but for breakfast so it's no princesses but Alice, Mary Poppins, etc. For our family, I'd rather see the charaters during a sit down meal than waiting in the heat in a long line.
I would skip Cape May and Whispering Canyon. Both are good but hard to get to if your not staying in the area.
I would also skip Coral Reef. Cool atomosphere but the food is really bad. There are so many good restaurants in Epcot I'd pick something else. Garden Grill is cool if you wanted characters.
Chef Mickey is a good option to see characters and so is the Tusker House breakfast or lunch in AK. Also, you can try one of the downtown disney restaurants. Its fun to walk around the stores, get some dinner then go to the icecream shop for dessert!

I disagree. My kids (7 and 8 right now) have been to both and we had wonderful experiences. The first time we went to Cali Grill they were 3 and 4 and since then they always ask to go back, especially to see the fireworks.

Re: what five restaurants would you eat at disney?
You have chosen a lot of our favorites. I think if you do a breakfast at either Akerhaus or CRT then dinner at the other, it won't be overkill. An easy alternative would be 1900 Park Fare dinner. It's the stepsisters, but we also got to see Ariel, so you never know who will show up.
Whispering Canyon is just ok, at least it is for me. I don't eat a lot of meat and it's all BBQ. The best thing about it is the bottomless milkshakes.
FF cafe is better for seafood than Coral Reef, but the atmosphere is better at CR. I disagree also about FF being only for adults. We stayed at BWV and our then 3 year old was with us. It wasn't a quiet restaurant and there were many families there with kids of all ages. We actually have another reservation there for this summer.
ETA: I totally forgot about Tusker 's House. It's our new favorite breakfast place.Plus it's inside a park,so no extra traveling.
