How was your Due Date calculated?

If you didn't have a standard 28-day cycle, did your OB adjust your due date accordingly?

I was a new patient at the OB practice I go to and I told them I averaged a 30/31 day cycle. The OB still calculated my due date based on a 28 day cycle. As of today, I am 4 days past due based on their due date. At my 40w3d appt yesterday, the OB suggested an induction for this Friday - I'll be 41 weeks based on their due date but only 40w4d based on a 31 day cycle. Do you think I should wait it out?

I didnt have a regualr cycle either when I got pregnant, anywhere from 30-37 days. My dr. just went by my last missed period and a 28 day cycle. By that he got a due date of June 4. At one point it was looking like maybe it should have been around the 9 or 10 but he nver changed it.

As for being induced, either way you're past due. How are you feeling? Im 37 weeks and already would like tog et back to feeling normal, mainly when it comes to sleeping. So if I ever made it past 40 weeks I would probably go for the induction. But everyone has their own views on it.

My cycle isnt 28 days either and initially my ob calculated incorrectly as well based on 28 days...

But when i had my first sono they dated it based on that and it was adjusted. Since then ive been on track...

When they looked at the sono they figured it out

Based on LMP I'm due November 9th

Based on O I'd be due November 10th

When they did the sono the dates were pretty much exact based on LO's size.

I thought that is how they determine it.

I have a crazy cycle, some months I don't even ovulate. So rather than tell them when my LMP was I calculated when my LMP should have been based on when I ovulated, and that's how they figured out my due date. And every ultrasound has confirmed that due date.

Mine was determined by sono and baby's size, but it matched up perfectly to when I ovulated. That month I would have had a shorter cycle (about 26 days if I had not gotten pregnant, I believe).

Also wanted to add, I am 41 weeks and cannot be induced bc of a prior csection. I personally would wait it out unless there's a medical reason to induce.

I had short cycles when I was pg with DD, and I was temping, so I knew what day I O'd. They insisted on calculating my EDD based on a 28-day cycle anyway. When we went for the 12-week sono, they told me I was further along than they thought (Duh! Told you so!) and they bumped up my due date.

This time, I have no idea what my cycles were like b/c I only had AF four times but as per the sono my due date is accurate.

Completely on the baby's size at the first sono. Both times.

You and your doctor have to decide if you want to induce. If you know the dates are off by a few days and are comfortable waiting longer, tell your doctor and see what he says.

Between how I figured it out online and the doctor we both had May 25th and sono said samething.

They pretty much followed my LMP. I had an IUI done on CD 13 so I guess it was close enough. Based on the way my sonos are measuring I am maybe like 1-2 days ahead so they just keep my due date as it is.

They based mine on a 28 day cycle even though the dr told me i would've had a 31 day cycle that month. They said since it's just a 3 day difference, they will keep the DD based on the original 28 days. It makes no sense to me but whatever.

As for being induced, i would speak to the doctor and see if there's a medical reason for them to induce you or not. If not, i'd try to wait it out a bit more.

same thing happened to me....
they based my due date on a 28 cycle....
giving me a due date of May 15 (yesterday)
so they scheduled my induction for may 22.

but my cycles were irregular.31/32/33 days
and according to my conception date (hurricane irene) LOL --- my due date would be may 20/may 21.


so im not sure myself what to do or what i should say to the doc when i go tomorrow (she is not my regular doc)
ugh so frustrating!


in addition - i was having contractions last night 4 minutes apart, lasting 20-30 seconds but then they stopped ;(

I guess that is one of the rare benefits of IVF...we know exactly when my egg retrieval was, so my due date was calculated based on that. Actually, I used an online calculator to figure it out. My RE never bothered, and my ob went with what the online calculator said.

I would think that in the case of an irregular cycle, date of ovulation or sonogram dating would be more reliable. This is coming from someone who had a 45-42 day cycle before starting IF treatments.

My doctor said as long as your within a 1 week window, they go with th earlier date. I would talk about your concerns about induction with your doc though.

I'd wait it out until absolutely medically necessary.

My OB calculated based on a 28-day cycle but then I got a dating sonogram which put me a week behind...

My OB based it on a 28 day cycle, my norm is a 27 day cycle. I was induced 5 days past my due date with DS and wouldn't be opposed to being induced again with this DC. I felt i was done, so i wanted to be induced anyway.
