Mortgage books

Can anyone recommend any books that go through any and all questions about home buying/mortgages?? I'd rather have a book than go through tons on Internet sites

Re: Mortgage books

I think it would make more sense to ask your friends or family to recommend a reputable and knowledgeable loan officer at a mortgage lender, and schedule a consultation with that person. A good loan officer can talk to you about your situation, what types of loan products would be available to you (and the pros/cons of each), explain the lending process, and get you preapproved. There's really no downside to doing that - it doesn't cost you anything, and you are not obligated to use the person or lender you consult with and/or get preappproved by.

Books (and the internet) can be a good starting point, but they are general. Since every person's financial situation and real estate needs are different, I would say go for an in-person consultation with someone local. That way, it's personalized and interactive (you can get specific questions answered, clarify what you don't understand). And when you want to buy, you will need a preapproval to seriously start looking, so it's good to start making contacts that you might want to use for your mortgage.

I would recommend the same thing re: the buying process. Real estate is local -- and there are different customs/practices depending on the state/region of the country. So your best bet is to meet with a local realtor and do a no obligation buyer's consultation. I posted a blog on this site a couple of months ago that explains what I do when I consult with a buyer, but basically I explain the buying process, and what the person needs to do to prepare, I talk to them about their real estate needs and how to best achieve their goals, and I explain how I work and answer any questions they have. Again, it's free - why not take advantage of local resources and get pointed info that is tailored to your situation.

Let me know if I can help - either in recommending a mortgage loan officer for you to speak to, or advising you from a real estate agent's perspective.

Re: Mortgage books

thank you Christine for your as always great advise. We already have a mortgage professional we are meeting with I believe this week and we are already aware of what real estate we wish to use and agent (we live way out east, want to buy out here and we sold 2 houses in my family within the past year by this agent, who is also my aunts best friend)
I am just a visual person, and would love a good book to reference, I have no problem asking questions but I am a book nerd
