wwyd - dr related

After not having an iui last month due to the drs office throwing my dh's sample out this is supossed to our first month. I am having it done at my obgyn's office. Today is day 13 and I tested and I'm still not getting a smiley. I had tons of cm and cramping yesterday but the test was still negative. I'm worried that I either missed my surge or this is a late month for me. I always get my smiley bt days 9-16 but don't know if they clomid will affect this. Dh wants me to call and tell them I got my smiley so that I can get in for at least a sono to tell us where we are. Our worry is that I may surge this weekend and miss our opportunity. The office is wierd so I don't know if they will have me come in unless I lie. I just want to know if I missed my month or not. Wwyd?

Update - I have an appt tomorrow morning which will be day 14, I lied to get the appt but will come clean after the sono tomorrow bc pp was corect, I'd dont want them to do a pointless iui. Hoping I get my smiley tomorrow but we shall see.

If I can be honest...I would not have IUI's done at an ob/gyn...the fact that they threw out your DH's sample is proof that they may not be equipped nor trained properly in doing those types of procedures...if you are taking any fertility meds you need to be monitored closely by an RE...I hope you dont take this the wrong way but I would seek an RE for your IF treatment...as my RE said to me the ob/gyn's job is to keep you pregnant and RE's job is to get you pregnant.

I wasted 2 months with my gyn giving me clomid and not monitoring me...I wish I had listened to the girls on here that told me to seek an RE out.

Re: wwyd - dr related

Thanks but I have to stick with my obgyn for at least 3 cycles. My insurance is horribly expensive for a specialist and only $30 to have it done at my obgyn. Plus my insurance won't cover RE iui's until I have it done at least 3x with my obgyn. I don't want to mess up anything with my insurance bc paying out of pocket would not be possible this year.

If for insurance reasons you have to go to your gyn can you insist on more monitoring? Can they do internal sono's more frequently?

When I was on Clomid I ovulated a little later than usual, so it's not uncommon to be 'off' your normal schedule.

Also - are you testing for your surge twice a day? If not, I'd highly suggest testing both morning and mid-afternoon (3ish).

Good luck! Chat Icon

This month I have been testing in the am and pm bc I feel off somehow. Last month I could feel O'ing. This month I'm just crampy. I guess ill just lie and say I got a positive. They are closed on weekends so that why I'm stressing.

I have to agree with the PPs. You should really be monitored while you're on clomid. Clomid can produce too many eggs or thin your lining or it can do next to nothing for you.

You really need a dr who will do sonos at the very least. I don't see why your obgyn won't at least do a sono to see where you are. They can bill your insurance for it.

I ovulated 2 days later on clomid consistently. If you're testing 2x a day I'm sure you didn't miss it. However it's common to go in for a cd 12 sono so perhaps you should call & request it and let them know you want to be monitored a little more closely. Good luck

Re: wwyd - dr related

I would not lie. If you lie and they do a sono and you have follies that are of a good size they will want to do the IUI even though you really haven't surged and then the IUI will be a waste cause it will be too early.

Well, another reason not to lie is that something could legitimately be wrong but they won't even know where to start if you don't tell them the truth. The one person you should never lie to is your dr.
