Wow, now I have heard it all.
I was talking to someone who posts on other message boards who said that someone posted how it disturbs them when people say "I don't care what gender my baby is, as long as it's healthy" because that's apparently ablism (discrimination against people who have disabilities).
I just feel like that's absolutely RIDICULOUS. I never heard of someone being against hoping for a healthy baby.
This person is literally saying that it's wrong to hope for a healthy baby because it's discriminating against babies who are not healthy.
So... what if someone says, "I really don't care what gender I have, as long as I am able to conceive quick and easily" ... Umm, shall we say they are discriminating against people who are infertile? I hope people I know conceive quickly and easily too, maybe I'm discriminating against the infertiles!

Yesterday one of my fb friends posted a link to an article that said the same thing about 'as long as its healthy'- it was "7 things parents of special needs children want you to know". I was kind of about that one too.

Re: Wow, now I have heard it all.
I am sorry, but no one is going to pray for an un-healthy child! That is absurd and as far from discrimination as I can imagine. Do you play the hand you're dealt? Absolutely! But their is NOTHING WRONG with praying for a healthy. In fact I thank God everyday for having had a healthy baby!! People really need to learn the meaning of words like discrimination before throwing them around.

That is ridiculous! I would imagine that even the parents of a special-needs child would pray that their next child is healthy.

How dumb! I'm 1000% sure those special needs parents hoped for a healthy child too, but once the child is here and has a disability you love him/her just the same.
People just need to nit pick, play devils advocate and mince words on everything.
