Help! Another OPK question....

This is my first time using OPK's so maybe you ladies can help me. I have a typical 28-29 day cycle and feel O pain, but never sure where in my cycle that is.

I started testing with the cheapies CD 8 just to make sure I didn't O earlier than I thought. I know then once you get a positive OPK that you will O shortly after like 12-36 hrs. I am using 2 apps Fertility friend and Pink Pad, and one has me Oing on CD 14 and the other CD 15.

Well I am on CD 12 and still no positive....but what is confusing me more is that the lines haven't even gotten any darker from when I started on CD8. Shouldn't they by now be getting at least a little darker? Maybe not a positive but closer at this point if I am supposed to O in 2 or 3 days?

I used a one this morning with FMU and then one when I got home at like 4 pm and not even a darker line. I can see the line, but it's not one of the confusing does it match or doesn't match line.

Any insight would help....I will keep testing of course...but just trying to see if the lines should be darkening at all.

2 things...

1. If you're using a OPK don't look at the lines. They don't mean the same thing as the line tests.

2. My line doesn't get darker until right before I'm Oing. If you're on CD12 and still having a light line it just means your LH is still low. Keep testing.

Also, I want to add that it's really enough to test only once a day. Save your money! Some ladies test twice to catch the very beginning of their surge but if you first get a + at night, it would still be + when you test the next day, which would be sufficient warning, especially if you're BDing every other day.

if u r about to surge on the 14th or 15th i would not expect to see a line now

think of it like this if get the positive on the 15th u might ot actually ovulate till the 16th or even the 17th so it would be odd toget the positive on the 12th

if u r about to surge on the 15th why would a line be there now??

a ob can tell with bloodwork if u r about to but if u have no prob with ovulation the opk will be fine

no that is what i meant too..

the positive line means u r about to surge so if the surge was to begin on cd 15 that's when it would be positive..or begin to...kwim?

also u could be ovulating later this month..like by a day or 2

i would not worry on cd 12 if there is no line

Ok gotcha....well my app says that is the day I would O...so I figured the show would surge before O day.

I'm just trying to understand and get the hang of it. lol. My app could be off and I could be Oing later then it says....so I will just keep testing to see when it finally shows me a

i would say do not listen to the apps! in my experience, the apps assume you ovulate exactly half way through your cycle (which in a 28/29 day cycle is cd 14/15), however this is not usually the case. Your LP could be 10-12 days in which case you dont O until cd 16-18. Keep using the OPKs and go based on that (maybe consider temping next cycle to confirm that you did ovulate).
The apps were telling me i would O around CD 17/18 because i have 34 day cycles...but after using opks and temping i learned that I ovulate on CD 22-24.
Depending on which apps you are using, once you have some opk/temping data you can set them to show your actual o date but in the meantime keep using the opk. I use the cheapies and the line gets darker typically a day before i get the positive so dont worry about that....just wait til you see the dark line/smile

Woohoooo finally when I tested today at 3:30 the line started to get darker on my cheapies!! Not a positive yet...but hopefully I will get a positive in the next day or two.

good! you ill prob get a positive in the next 24-72 hours if its getting darker now. thats why i dont go by the apps!!!
