b6 and LP
Just wondering if anyone's doctor told them directly to take B6 to increase their luteal phase? I know its been said on here, but when i look it up online all of the posts seem to be chat sites like this. No studies, or anything proving that it helps. Just wondering is this is just an old wives tale or of people have actually spoken to a dr about this

Re: b6 and LP
I asked the nurse at my RE's practice and she laughed at me. Not in a mean way, but in a, "don't waste your money" way.
I actually have a luteal phase defect so I assume if B6 worked, they would tell me to take it. Plus, my multi-vitamin and my pre-natals both have 100% of the daily recommended value and I've had short LPs for a while now.

Re: b6 and LP
I never asked my doctor about it because it's just a vitamin. I can tell you that my LP was only 8-10 days long. The ONLY two months I took it for the entire month, I got pregnant. There was one month I took it starting just around my O time but that didn't work. I have two kids now. Could it have been a coincidence? Sure, but I don't think it can hurt.
Keep in mind that OBs and nurses know way more about gestation and giving birth than they do about TTC That's become very clear to me after five years of reading what many OBs tell their patients on here!

Re: b6 and LP
For me, I put myself on it when I had a 10 and then a 9 day LP. Month 3 (month 1 taking it) 12 day LP, month 4 BFP. I took 1 a day.

I asked my Reproductive Endocronologist - who knows everything about TTC. It's his entire job to get me pregnant.

I wasn't referring to you - and you said you asked a nurse, not your RE.

Re: b6 and LP
I started taking B6 when I first noticed my LP was about 10 days and I got pregnant that month. I can't say for certain that it was because of the B6 of course but I like to think that maybe it helped. I had actually stopped taking it about 2 weeks into that cycle because I asked my dr and she said it wasn't necessary in theres B6 in the prenatals I was taking. She kind of made it seem like it was a waste of time and could even be too much in combo with the prenatals. So I stopped taking them. I have no idea though if those two weeks of taking them helped me get my BFP or if it was just a coincidence. If you know you have a short LP it couldn't hurt to see your doctor though for advice on what to do. Good luck!
