Someone has vandalized our fence - twice. What can I do?

Twice we've found that someone has knocked panels out of our PVC fence.

It's a corner house. The spot that they are doing damage in is on the side of the house, in kind of a secluded area.

What should I do? Cameras? The cops? A sign?

I would do a camera(s). There are setups that are relatively cheap and they come with a couple of day and night cameras, and they record on a DVR so you don't have to worry about tapes. I've been thinking of getting one of those setups myself, just because I think it's cheap insurance.

Harbor Freight had fake cameras for less then $10....maybe start with that and maybe a sign

OMG. Happened to my Fence like 20 times. Had cops involved and security patrol. Had the town install a pole and light and added cameras. Did NO GOOD. Still happened. Basically was told unless i catch them in person and can ID them its all useless. I will tell you for is its FINALLY stopped (praying for good).

I don't know how your fence is designed, but is there any way to add screws or anything that would make it much more difficult to knock the panels out? Other than that the camera, even a fake one as mentioned above, sounds like a good idea. I hope this stops for you soon, I hate that there are such @ssholes out there!

Besides the camera I'm not sure what else you can do.

This happened to my brother several times and one night he happened to wake up because he heard the kids.

Turns out it was a group of teenagers who were going around purposely running through fences. It was the "cool" thing to do.

My brother ran outside as the one kid was getting off the ground and started chasing him (not the smartest or safest thing to do), but he managed to get his hands on him and pretty much made the kid shhit his pants by warning him the next time he won't be so nice.

They never came back and it stopped.

He called the cops and they confirmed it was a group of kids doing it for the fun, but again unless they can catch them there is nothing they can do.

Little jerks! I'd put a camera up. If DH had his way he'd probably camp out with a baseball bat.

I live on a corner lot and although (knock wood) we haven't had any damage, I know the local kids like to hang out on the avenue. They really just hang out smoke their "cigarettes" and hide from the adults. We haven't had a prob w/them per say but I am sure its just a matter of time plus, I have to pick up the butts . So DH & I decided to put up a motion detector light so that will hopefully force the kids to find some place else to hang out.
