Intro and question
Hi Ladies, I've been lurking the boards for a couple of weeks. I wasn't sure if I wanted to come out of hiding - so to speak. DH and I got married August '11, and we've decided that we are going to start trying this summer. I've been on bc for the past 12 years, and have recently stopped taking it. I'm not even sure what my cycles will be like since they were very irregular 12 years ago! I have to admit that I'm totally lost when it comes to ttc. I'm still trying to figure out the acronyms, lol.
So my first (official) question is: should I expect any side effects from pre-natal vitamins? I purchased the one-a-day, but there are two pills. One that is the vitamin and one that has a supplement (I don't remember what ) D-something that the pharmacist said I should get.
Any words of wisdom or advice appreciated!
for all of you!

Re: Intro and question
hi and welcome!! I had no side effects with prenatals...sounds like you got the ones with the DHA supplement. I take the CVS brand with the DHA bc they often are on sale for buy one get one free. I started taking them at night (after work before dinner) just in case they did make me nauseous but thankfully no side effects so now i take them at lunch.
have fun ttc! its been quite the experience learning all about my body and cycle. i hope your stay on these boards are short

Re: Intro and question
You may just get nauseous...
other than that, your nails and hair may grow faster and your nails may get stronger... i am sure you won't mind that!

Re: Intro and question
I take the one a days with DHA, too. Definitely no side effects...aside from fish burps sometimes from the DHA. To avoid it, I just take it at night and it's fine.

Re: Intro and question
Thanks ladies!!! I can certainly "deal" with the hair and and nail growth :). I'll take them at night with dinner to help avoid nausea.
Good luck to everyone!

Re: Intro and question
hey lady, welcome to the other side!! Hope your stay here is nice and short
as for the prenatals, i'm on the same one and I haven't had any bad side effects. I did use prescription prenatals when we first began ttc, and felt very sick on them. One a Day's are great

Welcome and best of luck!
I would just recommend taking prenatals after you've eaten and it should tone down any side effects
