Let's Talk Infant Car Seats

Which one are you buying/registering for? We need a new one for this baby.

We have a smaller car (Nissan Altima) and some of the car seats just look too big for our car (Graco especially.) We looked at Car Seats yesterday- and think that the Chicco and the Peg Perego will fit in the car.

Everything I read says that the Chicco is one of the safest car seats around. Is there any reason to pick the Peg over the Chicco? The Peg does look slightly more compact.

We registered for Chicco Keyfit 30. It is highly rated. It was either that or the Graco, but I liked the Snap & Go for the Chicco better.

This is what we registered for as well. I registered for the travel system so it came with the infant carrier.

We registered for the Peg Perego... mostly upon recommendation, we didn't really consider the size of our cars, but I now that I think about it, our cars are on the bigger side, so I'm sure it's fine.

Hi!

As you know my sister is getting the Chicco. It's rated the best.

I have the Peg from 07. I believe it's slightly heavier than the Chicco, but it looks much more padded and comfortable than the Chicco after you take the infant support out of the Chicco.

Re: Let's Talk Infant Car Seats

Here's the deal since I know you and how tall you are:

Any car seat is going to be tight in the car because of how tall you/we are. I'm sure you & E sit as far back maybe further than J & I do. We had to put the infant seat on the passenger side (according to carseat saftey chris) and I had to move my seat up because the car seat can't touch the front seats.

We have/had a Graco Snugride 35. It fit, but we just had to move the seat up- which you guys will probably have to do with most any car seat. If you go to BRU, I bet they will let you put them in your car to see. The car seat won't be able to go in the middle (which is better for K anyways) because the person driving needs to be comfortable, so it has to go on the passenger side because that person can move forward (and be uncomfortable LOL).

Let me know if you have any more questions. My car seat is at my mom's but next time I go home or they come here you can put it in your car.

we got the Chicco Keyfit 30..... I liked the safety ratings it got, my SIL has one & loves it, plus we liked the color we picked ("Romantic") bc it was gender neutral for when we have our next baby

I'm going with the Peg Perego since it goes up to 30lbs and I make big babies. It is also very spacious and the craftmanship is great quality. Also, I have the Bugaboo stroller and the seat I picked out matches perfectly with the rest of the stroller. The only downside I heard is that it is a bit on the heavier side.

Everyone that I've known to have the Peg seats hates them. That alone was enough to make me not get one. Personal experience trumps the rest.

We registered for a Graco snugride with DS and got it. Then he was born premature and came home at only 4 lbs. The Graco seats' minimum weight is 5 lbs! We had to exchange the Graco seat for the Chicco Keyfit 30, which is one of the few seats out there who's minimum weight starts at 4 lbs.

We LOVE the Chicco keyfit 30. DS was in it until 15 months old - comfortably! The only reason we switched him to the convertible is because he met the height limit. At 25 months old, he STILL doesn't meet the 30 lb weight limit lol!

After about 11 or 12 months we started leaving the seat in the car and just put him in/took him out of it. Because it was heavy with a bigger baby. But we loved having the option of taking him out in the seat when he fell asleep.

I highly recommend it. We are re-using the seat with baby #2 who is due very soon.
