Closing- how long?
I know I know the answer to this BUT I want to confirm with those who have recently bought or sold a house....how long did it take from contracts signed to closing (how many weeks months etc).
Is 2 months unheard of these days? Is 4 months too long? Just need to know. Thanks.

Re: Closing- how long?
Contracts were signed in Mid-August and we closed October 21st. We also had an issue that added 2 weeks so if not for that issue, we probably could have closed a week or 2 earlier. The on or about date on our contract was October 31st.

Re: Closing- how long?
I think a 60-90 day close is "standard," but I know some banks that regularly close loans within 30 days, and there are some situations (C/O issues, etc.) that results in delayed closings (e.g. 4 months).
But leaving aside how fast is "possible" -- the closing date is a term that is negotiable. If both parties agree that a house that goes into contract today won't close until September, that is perfectly ok.

Re: Closing- how long?
Signed the contract/bid on 12/6.
Closed 3/30.
Its just the way our deal went. We didnt want to be in the house immediatly, and they also needed time to to close on their new house.
Worked out perfect.
ETA: We got the mortgage in Feb but had to jump through some big hoops to dance for the man :) We locked in and had 45 days to close from there. We HAD to close by 4/12

Re: Closing- how long?
In my experience, contract to closing is typically 60 to 90 days but it is entirely up to the parties involved. This is negotiated in the Contract of Sale so you are free to agree to any time frame.

Exactly 3 months...there was also an issue with our survey that we needed to straighten out.
