Re: Disney PhotoPass......YAY or NAY!
Well it is a kind of depends answer. I personally love it. I pre-order the CD which used to be $99 but went up about a month ago. Since I pre pay for it I make sure to use it as much as I possibly can. I don't want to lug my expensive camera with me all over the parks with 2 kids and risk getting it broken, stolen or lost. I bring my point and shoot. I get about 300 photos over the course of the week. When you walk into one of the parks (MK - on main street and various locations in front of the castle; EPCOT in front of spaceship earth, in the gardens in China, etc; to give you an idea of where you can find them). Then you will find them at all character meet and greets. I like it because I get a ton of family photos and I don't have to keep giving my camera to a cast member or ask someone else to take a photo. You can really get a lot of shots out of it if you choose. I even found some photopass photographers walking around the pool area our last two trips at the Poly so I have pictures of the girls by the pool as well (but don't count on those).
When you take photos you will get a card (like a credit card) you can use that one card or end up with several. You enter the numbers when you get home and you get I think 30 days to see your photos and order etc. You can add borders and even add your own photos to the CD. Then they ship the CD to you - you get a letter indicating you own the photos. Then you can take the CD anywhere or upload them to places like shutterfly. Disney charges something like $14.95 for one 5x7 printed photo. So if you really use it is a good deal. If you only take like 20-50 photos it probably isn't as good a deal. To get the pre purchase price you must order the CD before you take any photos.
I haven't tried it but apparently people say that if you prepurchased it less than 6 months before if you get home and decide you didn't take enough photos or you don't like them you can ask for a refund.
My feeling is that if you prepurchase it make sure you take as many photos as you can during your trip. It is also easier to make it worth while if you are there for say 7 or 8 days then it is if you are only there for 4 or 5.

Ok....so it's the price for the pass, & then you can pre buy the rights to the entire cd to purchase as your will.
I guess I'll look over the list of where they are, to see if we are in those areas. I LIVE FOR PHOTOS....and I'd LOVE to not have to rely on myself the whole time. (even though I'll probably have the camera with me LOL)

Re: Disney PhotoPass......YAY or NAY!
We just did the pre-pay option for our family trip. There were 15 of us traveling together so for us it was totally worth it b/c we only had to pay $25 per couple and we all got a million pictures.
If you do it make sure to get tons taken and if you are in the same spot on a different day do the pic again. That gives you a better chance of getting a good pic. I'm very happy with the photos we got and it was so much easier than trying to ask some random tourist to take pics of my family.
We also upgraded during our trip to the new photopass plus option which allows you to add ride photos and character meal photos to the account. So cool. We got a ton of funny ride photos that would have been lost w/o the plus option. It does make it much more expensive though.

You don't have to pay anything to have the photos taken - I believe you get a pass in your package packet they mail you before your trip. You can also go up to any photopass person and get a card when they take yours (remember to take a picture with your camera or cell phone of the cards so if you misplace them you don't lose your photos.
It only cost money if you want the CD or order photos. Keep in mind they are only up on the photopass site for something like 2 weeks or 30 days then you have to pay to extend the time. They aren't on there forever like shutterfly.

Re: Disney PhotoPass......YAY or NAY!
I LOVE PhotoPass and pre-order it every time.
Here's a map of locations - Ask for magic shots, too!
I'm actually about to write on my blog about PhotoPass, but I've been sick.
Anyway I order it all the time but NOW you have a bg decision to make.
They JUST rolled out a new option called PhotoPass Plus. It costs $199 (no pre-orders available) and it includes everything PhotoPass does, unlimited photos on CD from many locations around the parks AAAAANNND it includes photos taken as part of Character Dining Packages (CRT, CM, etc) AND ride photos.
I think it's AMAZING, especially fora first trip/once in a lifetime trip, but I'm still getting used to the jump from paying $99 which was a no-brainer to $199.
I think it still is a great deal and so worthwhile to get pics of the whole family together and they generally do a great job.
I think you're friends with me on facebook, right? I have I think 3 Photopass albums posted from different trips. You'd have more with character interaction and stuff since you have little ones. They really do capture all of the hugs and unexpected moments.

You have 30 days to activate your photopass card(s) on the site and then another 30 days to order after that. You can order single prints (also can be done in park), mugs, calendars, christmas cards, etc. I usually just get the CD and call it a day.
If you pre-order the CD it just shows up as a credit in your cart. But you can only order PhotoPass, NOT PhotoPass Plus, which must be purchased in park

There's no cost for the pass. As lillykat said, if you have a package, you'll get a card in your travel docs, or you can get one from any photographer (take a pic of the back of it with your phone. This will protect you if you lose it). You can combine multiple cards for one account online. You can take hundreds of pictures and buy none, but if you tell them you are getting the CD they will usually take extra shots.

Technically it's 90 days, but I have been told by cast members on the phone that they will refund up to 6 months. They can't beyond that because they only store CC data for that long

If you tell the photographers that you pre-purchased the CD, they'll usually take even more pictures since they know they're going to be used.

Re: Disney PhotoPass......YAY or NAY!
So if I'm understanding right.....$199 is the total cost for the cd (rides & character meals too)
You can then print from the cd yourself, or do you have to use Disney for printing (extra $)?

You get a limited license on the photos so you can print them yourself or bring them to CVS or Costco
