How do you deal with your irrational pregnancy emotions?
How do you deal with your pregnancy emotions? For instance- When you know you are upset or angry over something AND you realize this is irrational, but you feel like you still can't control yourself and cry anyway... what do you do at those times?
My mom was originally thinking of having my shower at my aunts house (who i actually don't get along with) but then told me all of these horrible reasons it would be a bad idea and not work and how she changed her mind to do it at a restaurant. She looked around and on her own, happened to pick my favorite restaurant and everything sounded great. She told me she booked it. I had gotten excited about it. It was what I always wanted. A day later, after she tells me everything is basically set and she'll be sending out the invites, I get an email saying she decided to have it at my aunts house again. Now it's even worse for me because not only did I not want it there in the first place, she also gave me new/more reasons to be unhappy about that location and she had gotten my hopes up for a different type of thing entirely. I know I am lucky to just be having a shower and I know I am being irrational about how upset I am over this but I can't help crying. I am not used to dealing with this type of emotional distress.
Any advice?

Re: How do you deal with your irrational pregnancy emotions?
I know it stinks. I'm not used to losing it over thing I know aren't important either. Up until I got pregnant this time the last time I cried was 5 years ago after DD was born (I cried b/c my mom was trying to be helpful by doing my laundry and I was upset b/c she didn't bleach my whites ).
I just let myself cry for a minute and then catch my breath and remind myself how silly I'm being. Usually within a few minutes I'm back to normal and thinking clearly.
DH was really freaked out the first time I cried over something ridiculous b/c I don't know if he's ever really seen me cry before
I'm sure your shower is going to be wonderful no matter where you have it. It stinks feeling disappointed, but just think of all the cute things you'll get for your baby from people who love you.
I hope you feel better about it soon

I just cry it out and it seems to go away. The other day DS made me feel better by running up to me and giving me hugs and kisses while saying "mommy sad." DH is really good at comforting me when I cry, even though he knows it's all hormonal.

Just cry it out.
Yesterday DD accidentally head butted me right in the mouth. I started hysterically crying. I mean yeah it hurt, but um, it's not the first time it's happened and she's too young to know she "hurt" me so she just saw me crying and then got all nervous and sad.
Everything just hit me at once. Being huge and uncomfy, not prepared for this new baby or delivery, DD's terrible two's etc.
BUT I felt much better after a good cry!

Re: How do you deal with your irrational pregnancy emotions?
I try to tell myself Im being irrational, but it just doesnt always work.
So I allow myself to cry, and what I find helps a lot is I call a friend or my mom, so they can tell me how irrational I sound LOL And most of the time once I can get it outta my head and I hear myself out loud, I actually realize how ridiculous I sound! LOL
I actually got angry with my husband because he lost the cap to my hand lotion. A CAP TO HAND LOTION! Its travel size, the lotion costs $1 and I was upset! LOL I turned it into you dont have respect for my things! LMFAOOOOOOOO So trust me I know irrational! LOL I started laughing at myself mid-yelling! LOL
I think you just need to remember its not you, its hormones... And sometimes just laugh at yourself... =) It will get better cheer up!
And no matter what your going to have a beautiful shower and receive tons of gifts and be surrounded by people you love, you wont spend 1 second on your aunt you dislike... AND if it really bothers you discuss it with your mom. I dont see anything wrong with having a rational conversation with your mom and tell her the truth, you were really thrilled when you heard she booked your fave restaurant, what made her change her mind? If its budget then obviously you have to understand and if its not then tell her youd prefer to have it there. I mean it is your day =/ Thats just my opinion... I told my mom where I wanted mine and Im planning it with her. This way I dont have to be upset or take a chance I wont get all the things I know I want...
