MIL VENT!
MIL kept begging DH to send her our registries. So he sent them to her. Of course, I knew she would complain about it but for some reason what she said is annoying me now anyway.
She told DH that there were a lot of things she didn't recognize. DH said yeah, a lot of things have changed since I was born. And MIL replied in a rude, weird tone "and a lot of things haven't". When I asked what that meant or implied, DH said he thinks it is obvious that she has objections about some of the items on our list. He then continued to talk about how she takes offense to registries in general and there are probably some things she disagrees with.
I can't even imagine which of these items she doesn't recognize and/or agree with. I have a pretty basic list. The only things I can possibly come up with so far have been the shopping cart cover and the baby food maker.
BUT here is why I am really annoyed: If she takes offense to registries, why did she need to see ours? Also, she doesn't need to buy us anything off of the registry or use anything off of our registry. It is for ME. and MY child. Things I find necessary and important to buy and use. So why does she feel the need to complain about it? What does it even have to do with her?

Re: MIL VENT!
my mom wasn't big on registries either, she bought my sister the same change table she had when we were little which basically the table slides into itself in half so its a spacesaver, yet my sister never ended up using that feature anyways since she kept it in the baby room.
DH should tell her to buy the things she recognizes.....

Re: MIL VENT!
I feel your pain. I haven't gotten to that point yet with her but its only a matter of time. My in-laws havent had ANYTHING to do with a baby since she had 32yrs ago. She's already informed me that she doesnt believe in baby showers

Re: MIL VENT!
Yup I get the same kind of unsolicited "advice" from my in-laws. It's even more annoying when DH's grandmother thinks she knows best. She hasn't had a baby of her own in over half a century! Things have DEFINITELY changed since then.

Re: MIL VENT!
Thanks for the heads up about once DD is born... I know she will be dispensing lots of "advice" (giving criticism of what I am doing) but I know DH hated his childhood and I practically raise and teach children for a living already so I hope I will be able to tune her out and know that I am doing what I believe is best for me and my child. MIL did e-mail my mom and say she is going to be "more involved than we want her to be"... so I can't imagine what that means. I'm afraid if she comes to visit for the birth and stays over she'll never leave
