Short term disability Q- Do you have to work until your DD to collect?
I am due April 20th but I put in my last day of work for April 18th. Can I still collect unemployment if I dont work until the day I actually give birth? I hope this question makes sense..

I don't believe so because STD is when its a medical necessity....... If your dr put you out on a bedrest - it would be a different story- and even with that I've heard of some companys not accepting certain bedrest reasons.

Hmm, I see. So I would then have to work up until I give birth then right? Is there a number I can call to find out this information?

pretty sure it starts the day you give birth but if you stop the 18th and say have him the 20th the time in between is used from your paid time off..it confuses me too!

Ok, this is what I thought too. I think it would be silly if I had to work up until I went into labor. This STD is really annoying and frustrating

I had a scheduled C-section with my 2nd. My C-section was scheduled for a Friday and I stopped working on Tues. Disability did not kick in until Friday when I gave birth. I had to use my time off from my job for Wed and Thurs. Unless your dr will put you out as of the 18th for medical necessity.

It's usually the day you give birth - save some vacation time for that
