Holy cow - Big baby??
Just came back from the doctor and the baby is measuring almost 4lbs!! I am just under 30 weeks. Does that seem really big??

Yes, that does sound big!! I just went yesterday at 28w3d and the baby was 2 pounds 14 ounces - that was average, I think 55th percentile.
Did they tell you what percentile your baby was for weight?

At 32 week growth sono  was measuring 4.4 lbs (48th percentile).

I wouldnt be concerned if your dr. wasnt concerned! I think mine measured around 3/3.5 at that time..

Did they say what % your LO was in? Mine measured in the 96th percentile the whole time so I know all about big babies!  Even still, a lot of times the estimates are off by a lb or more so if your Dr isn't too concerned, I wouldn't be either.

At 30w mine measured 3 pounds 10 ounces. Doc said it was perfect and on track!

not out of control big but def a nice size! my DD was born at 33w at 3lbs8oz but she was IUGR and measured more like a 31w baby. so 4lbs seems like a nice size!!!

AH you read my mind, I was JUST about to post this!! I have an appt tomorrow (29w exactly tomorrow) and I was going to ask if they can tell how big the baby was!

Ditto here too. I am 30 wks and have no idea what my baby weighs. I guess at the growth sono appt at 32 weeks they will tell me???

I have no idea how they can tell, but it is something in the ultrasound machine that estimates the weight based on certain measurements, I think.
I can tell you the reason I know earlier is because I am getting monthly growth sonos due to high blood pressure,

Mine was 4lb 13oz at 30w6d - THAT is a big baby
Yours is definitely on the larger side but not freakishly so

All of the measurements during a sono are taken into account into an algorithm. You'll get an idea at your growth sono - the 'earlier' ladies are just based on when their office does growth sonos.

Thanks ladies! I don't feel as bad. I found out I am in the 80th percentile. DH just keeps saying she will be healthy. I fear trying to push a little sumo baby out - yikes!!! I really don't want a c-section!

Sounds ok to me! My LO was 4 lbs 9 ounces at 33 weeks, the tech said that was average sized for 33 weeks.
